What impressed me was the part where he dribbled between the legs on a post move. The guy can not only take it to the hole (see video over Kenyon Martin):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STk02KKVksk

but he can dribble and finish.

He can also hit it from the 3.

The main negative I see though is that he doesn't take his jump shot from the peak of his jump.

Will he sport #12 or be asked to select another number because of an outcry from Bruce Bowen fans like Ginobili.

nice, i hope he has enough of an impact to the point where we can make a highlight video like that but in a Spurs jersey.

For the vet min, Haislip has the potential to be THE STEAL of the offseason.

I hope he is able to meet his potential with the Spurs.

This guy will be a starter!!!! GEORGE GERVIN 2.0!!!

He has the potential to be, but he would be FAR more effective coming off the bench with Hill, Manu, Blair, and Ian.

CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT 5 TOGETHER?!?!

Not that they will, but they have the potential to destroy the Laker's bench SO BADLY that they pack up and go home.

is it just me, or did it look like he dunked over the mighty splitter at the 3:00 mark?

Impossible. Some other Euroleague player was wearing the jersey of his revered Splitter when he was dunked on.

you're right.

im pretty sure he won't be allowed to wear #12.

that number is being retired regardless of what happens to that fellow.

Check out his draft measurements:

Height w/o Shoes Height w/shoes Weight Wingspan Standing Reach Body Fat No Step Vert Max Vert Bench Press Lane Agility 3/4 Court Sprint Class Rank
6' 8.5" 6' 9.75" 221 7' 0" 8' 11" NA 33.5 36.5 8 11.35 3.21 17

Wingspan of 7'
Standing Reach of 8' 11"
Max Vert of 36.5

The guy has got unique potential. Just to put this in perspective, Charlie Villanueva has got

A wingspan of 7' 0.25" '
Standing reach of 9' 1"
And max vertical of 31.0

In otherwords, that's a 5.5" jump advantage! This kind of athleticism is damn rare, plus as the videos show, he can hit it from long range!

We'll win it all if this guy delivers.

Imagine him guarding guys like Bryant and LeBron. We'll make these guys feel like when Parker was covered by Ariza.

My vote for 7' wingspan lineup would be:

(1) George Hill
(2) Marcus Williams
(3) Marcus Haislip
(4) DeJuan Blair
(5) Tim Duncan

That is great. I would love to see this line up just to see what the other coach would do to counter. Good line up to run against Nellie to mess with him.

I know his "natural" position in the 4, but the more I see of this guy the more I think he's our back-up 3 for next season.

I hope he's improved his D...

I was about to post the exact same thing. That guy moves like a 3. I have no doubt he was brought here to cover the Odom's and Turkoglu's of the world.

nice first vid, if you compare his draft measurements with Dwight Howards than he is a higher jumper just let that sink in for a moment....WOW

This guy definitely has the athletic talent the Spurs have been looking for. Hopefully he's gotten his head in the game, and can get a good chance and take advantage of it.

This is shaping up to be one hell of a season. Never mind the potential of the team, which is high...it will just be interesting to see how all of these new parts are integrated in. Jefferson, McD, Blair, Mahinmi, Haislip, and maybe Hairston, Jack or the Gist....It's going to be like a whole new team on the floor at times.

Yep, that is Splitter at the 3 min. mark! The scoreboard shows them playing Tau Ceramica.

lmao.

Haislip >> Splitter !

No video of him dunking over Lebron, though.

Anybody noticed the mechanics of his 3-point shots?
Instead of jumping up and elevating over the perimeter defender, he leaps forward and up, landing always inside. Note: most of his 3P were without a body on him or over smaller defenders.
I don't know how would that work in the NBA: 1) would a bigger defender block his shots?:rolleyes; b) would his up-fore-leap create contact with the defender?:downspin:; c) although he has a good 3P% in Europe (30% in Turkey and 38% in Spain), his % in the NBA is 26.7% (I don't recall any of his games in the Pacers or Bucks, so I don't know if he was already shooting this way before 2005)

Any of Chip's disciples care to enlighten me on this?
Thanks.

Wow, those videos are awesome. I really wish he had played the summer league so we could have seen him recently and against the NBA-style game again.

I'll admit, I kind of had him on my list of "we'll see" guys. I wasn't sure if he would be able to contribute or not. But his skill-set makes me salivate. For the vet min this guy seems to be definitely worthy of a two-year tryout.

In fact, that contract could very well be a damn coup.

Hill-Hairston-Gist-Haislip-Ian....These 5 would be on the floor together would be the anti-spurs (fast break basketball and highlight reel dunks all over the place).

Damn! Im starting to believe that 48 minutes might not be enough time for our front court......

Not to mention Haislip is ready for the Artest types.......

With the addition of RJ, McDyess and Blair, the Haislip signing has been a little forgotten but I really like it.

Spurs have suffered for years against mobile PFs and Spurs have signed Haislip to fix that weakness. I don't know if Haislip will work out for Spurs but I really like the logic behind that signing. Haislip could turn into a damn important player in some matchups.

Watching those videos he shows some crazy nice mobility. He has a nice first step and moves like a guard. His primary position is PF, but I wonder if the Spurs think they can play him as a SF.

Hes definitely the team darkhorse right now.

I totally agree! I don't know if I could watch another game where the Spurs make David West look like Micheal Jordan!

I also thought his 3-pointers were quite odd.
