The art style is obviously very cool, but I dont think the gameplay is going to set any new standard (or even do it better than what its trying to emulate).

Looks to be a game thats getting by on pure style...with little to no substance. Of course, I could be wrong. Looks to me like a cross between Abe's Odyssey and Gradius (minus all the guns).
