View Full Version : Mindless Football Trivia Question ... Greatest State Ever?

Pick a trio - a running back, quarterback and wide receiver, from each state (based upon where they were raised and attended college) and which state sports the best trio ever?

Oddly, there is one, and only one, correct answer to the question.

There is NO debate.

None. Even Whottt could not play devil's advocate.

For those who know the answer, please refrain from posting until everyone has had a chance to answer incorrectly.

It was just a shot in the dark....hmmm maybe...Indiana?

Got to be Payton, Rice and Bret Favre and that would be Mississippi.

But Whottt would disagree somehow.

Damn you Jim! This thread had potential.

GON, sorry man, but I am a huge Walter Payton fan and I hated that his record was broken, especially by a Cowboy. I also love Favre, so it was an easy question for me, because I knew Jerry went to Mississippi Valley St., so I had to answer soon.

Imagine if these 3 had been contemporaries and played on the same NFL team....they would have won 6 SBs, no doubt.

S'alright. I was hoping to get a little Texas vs AnotherState going here, but in the end it's really simple.

Mississippi's B Team ain't so bad either - McAllister, McNair and Alworth.

WTF? I say Florida and you say that I'm not even warm...unless that was just trying to throw me off.

It is one of the perks for living in Mississippi.

In your defense, you were warm, geographically speaking.

Who says they need more than Gannon? Throw in two scrubs and their Superstar-to-Population ratio is still one of the highest...

Gotta go with North Dakota

Lamar Gordan, Jimmy Kleinsasser, and my boy Josh Duhamel from NBC's "Las Vegas" played QB in college

Alabama is pretty good too. Namath, Don Hutson and Bo Jackson. I might rate them 2nd.

So 2 states adjacent to each other are 1-2 IMO. Miss and Al.

Same answer applies to basketball too, I'll bet.

GON, I would put Archie Manning on the B team for sure.

Disagree.

McNair >>> Archie.

EDIT to add: In your defense, back in the day of Archie, I was just learning to root for the Cowboys. I don't have any first-hand memories of Archie's game.

Of course not, in basketball it would be Lamar Gordon, Jimmy Kleinsasser, and Phil Jackson

GON, consider what Manning did on those HORRIBLE Saints teams. Imagine whet he would have accomplished on a decent team like Steve has had the good fortune of playing his whole career on....yes? When he was at Ole Miss, he was by far the best college player in the country.

My vote would be

Manning > McNair at this point

but probably McNair > Manning before McNair is done

My bad. Mount Rushmore should have been my first clue.

When his son Eli was driving on campus, he had to notice the speed limit on campus....it is 18 MPH...why is that significant? That was Archie's number at Ole Miss...that is how good he was in college and what he meant to that University....cool huh?

The year the Texans were came into existence they had an All Texas team on their site. The best defensive players of all time came from Texas, from Joe Greene to Mel Renfro to Ken Houston to of course the best mlb ever Mike Singletary. The rbs weren't too shabby either, Eric Dickerson and Earl Cambell.
