Finding Forrester is not really a basketball movie, but a very good movie.

I loved Space Jam.

I actually liked Love and Basketball too.

No Jesus Shuttlesworth? :)

I remember sneaking into White Men Can't Jump when I was a kid. It's still funny as hell today.

You forgot Glory Road...definitely a quality basketball flick.

Here's a good one: "That Championship Season"...the original, not the remake (though I wouldn't kick that out of bed). It's taken from the stage, and this motion picture did not fare well at the box office, but, it works really well on the "small screen." Robert Mitchum plays the coach, with Bruce Dern, Paul Sorvino, Martin Sheen and Stacey Keach playing the starting four for the one time Pennsylvania State Boy's Basketball Champions. The missing member is the center, who has forsaken Coach because of what he demanded he do during the game to ensure victory (elbow & hook the opposing black center). There is no basketaball action during this movie. At the end Mitchum puts on the 33 rpm record of the moments after the last timeout when they are trailing by one. Each actor is shows in turn as the record plays out as the championship is attained. They then gather for a group photo around the championship trophy with the cue to smile the word: "cunninglingus" (a reference to a joke in the movie)...then the the frame tracks ever so slowly over the trophy and a dramatic orchestral score is played over the trophy and then the credits.

It's quite a treat.

Coach Carter is a great movie, but as far as purely basketball without all the drama and shit, I'd have to go with White Men Can't Jump.

I was a kid in '79 (5-6) but does anyone ever remember the movie
"The Fish that Saved Pittsburg" with Julius "Dr. J" Erving?

My pops has it in VHS and saw it a couple of months ago. Pretty cool dunk scenes of the Dr. himself.

White Men Can't Jump, if not for the ridiculous part at the end where his g/f goes off and starts answering Jeopardy with prescience, would have to be one of the greatest sports movies of all time, maybe top 3. It's such a fantastic story about life and the flaws that make people do what they do. When Woody fails to dunk after winning it all and loses his money, it's among the top moments in (sports) movie history.

Fantastic film. With some of the best action of any b-ball movie.

Coach Ken Carter: When we step on the floor every second that clock is ticking, we are pedal to the metal, we run the ball, we pressure the ball, and most importantly we control the tempo of the game, we make them play Richmond Oiler ball.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our dark that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people don't feel insecure around you.We are all meant to shine as children do. Its not just in some of us; its in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsiously give other people to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. Sir I just wanna say thank you . . . You saved my life.

Because it's a Disneyized PC story that's not even remotely accurate? Wasn't this what everyone said about Rudy?

I always thought WMCJ was an ironic title since it had little Wesley Snipes throwing it down on an 8 foot rim.

Fine citation for "The Pistol", is that what yer referring to, Scott?

I got to call a smidge of ass on Braveheart and I'll tell you why, Scott: It sticks in my craw when the Gibson character won't fight when the English Lord takes that newlywed's wife on her wedding night to his own bed, but, wants everyone to follow him to war after his wife's throat is cut. Then when the newlywed comes face to face with the guy who took his wife that night Gibson tells him to hurry with his vengeance. It ain't right.

I really liked Coach Carter. I took alot of quotes from that movie. Space Jam was great. I watch it from time to time. Like Mike is ok. I just watch it mostly for the cameos. Glory Road has an amazing story.
