We Have to Go Spend Money to Keep From Going Bankrupt

http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=51162

“And those people who can’t afford to get in there, up to a certain income, we’re going to subsidize them, you get in there and we’ll help you pay for it,” Biden said....Because remember! If we do not, we as a nation will go bankrupt!

ahahahhahahahahhaa

How do you guys not feel like 5 year old fools for supporting these Neros...

The obvious solution is to permit big pharma and an increasingly consolidated insurance sector to continue to rape us, and to refuse to manage out of control health care costs.

Sincerely,

Yeah, because Aetna, United Healthcare, Blue Cross, JP & Humana have turned such HUGE profits, and cost us all so much money.......haven't they?

I mean, it's not like over 50% of employees are covered w/in self-insured (as in the employer is its OWN risk-taker) scheme or anything!

Big Pharma you have a point with, but why don't you look at where THERE profit comes from, and who protects that (somebody in this thread gave you a HUGE hint)! Free market my ass.

Joe Biden has got to be the stupidest VP ever. But he's the best Life Insurance Policy Obama could have. Nobody would want to take out Obama when it means we get Joe "Plugs" Biden as a result!

Big corps used to set up offshore accounts for docs; and pay them via that - tax free. Now, NO payments are allowed; pretty much limited to buying lunches at the office for staff.

United Healthcare of New England, O.K.; thanks for that.

Are those profits excessive? How much premium did they receive, how much did they pay? What margin are they working on?

In your world, is profit inherently bad - and doesn't the insurance company's profit motive hope hold DOWN costs? What will the govt.'s incentive to hold down cost be?

Biden is actually tremendously useful to the American people, because he has a very big mouth, and therefore occasionally tells us the truth by accident.

No, I don't think it's inherently bad at all. But in the healthcare area specifically, I do think that care access and quality should trump profit motives. At the very least, obscene profit (this applies more to pharma than insurance co).
In the current system, profit motives simply do not keep costs down. Instead, what you currently have is a system of inflated prices.
And I do think the government should provide at the very least a basic care program to fall back to (and I understand you propose to go further than basic, something I don't oppose, but right now I would settle with basic care, which, as you know, covers the most common occurrences). Which would drive down costs, as seen on pretty much every other first world country on the planet (and some third world countries too, I should add).
The government has an interest from an electorate point of view. 1 in 2 bankruptcy filings in the country can be traced back to health bills. You think that people are happy? There's almost a quarter of americans uninsured or underinsured, without access to care. In politics it's all about making people happy my friend.

To set the record straight, I will add that I'm also against the current drug patent system that creates artificial prices and a barrier to access to drugs.
This is one other area where I think human needs should trump profit motives. I'm not against moderate profit that makes sure covers for the R&D and a modicum of profit. What I'm against is the current system that creates disproportionate amount of profits while it leaves behind a bunch of people to die because they can't afford the artificial price.

I subscribe to this. He's one of those rare guys that on occasion will actually match 'straight talk' with straight talk, when he shouldn't have (from a political pov).

You have to remember, the goal of socialism is that everyone has an equally (shitty) life. The hell with success. Obama and his merry band of fascists are getting this all to play out exactly as they want.

You're right about that - I think the term is "useful idiot" :lol

How long before Lord Barak completely muzzles him and relegates him to state funerals? :bking

I just hope this is a lesson to those of you who vote democrat for partisan reasons rather than really looking at who the bust candidate is. Even republican for that matter. If you vote without really looking at who these people are, then you are part of the problem.
