So, my wife is going to have our 2nd Spurs fan in Sept. We are going back & forth with names for our son. I wanted to see what y'all thought of the names that we have on the top of our list. These are in no particular order of how we like them.

1. Keenan
2. Trey
3. Kyler
4. Brayden

Let me know which one you like.

Given the choices for first name, I'm gonna venture a guess and go with...Rodriguez?

Personally I can't fucking stand these newer modernized names like Brayden and Kyler so I wouldn't use them. Don't know why a white baby would be given the name Keenan, and Trey is usually a nickname for the 3rd generation of the same name.

When I was on the pregnancy boards, people always wanted opinions on names, too. Congrats on the baby, but I don't understand why people want total strangers to name their kids. I also happen to dislike really modern names, so I can't offer help on that front. Having said that, if my second boy had been a girl I was going to name her something nobody else liked so I got in the habit of saying, "Well, you can name the next baby you birth!" So, if you love those names, pick one and don't worry about what people like me think. :)

It's best to go with some unique name and roll the dice on your kid's future. If you give him something out there he will either grow into it and be special or hit the other side of the spectrum and be a complete fuckup with a weird name.

If you name him John, he will be John. No more no less. Nothing special, just John. :lol

Out of those, Trey has the most potential.

Trey.........only if he is the 3rd of "something", but sounds like he's going to to be your 2nd child so name him Dos Eagle Feather, Twostar, or Tommy. :D

I'm a sucker for traditional names, so my favorite of those is Brayden. But that's even pushing it. And what are the middle names? Or no middle names?

But, like Summers said, why let total strangers help?

Of those four, I like Brayden but I'd have to really hear them with the middle/last names to form a good opinion. Plus, I think the first name should go well with (not alliterate though) your other child's name.

Congrats to you and your family.

I prefer the more traditional names myself: Kenneth, Mark, David, etc. But of the 4 you have I like Brayden; that's probably because my son has a good friend named Brayden who's a nice kid with a very nice family. :)

Speaking of alliterate: Our oldest son was always going to be Kenneth, for my husband's best friend. Our first daughter was Monica; we lost her as an infant. So when I was pregnant again with a girl, we decided on a name I thought we both liked. She was born after an emergency c-section for which I was under general anesthesia and didn't wake up for several hours. When I woke my husband said, "Uh I named her Keilie (kee-lee)". Fine with me although it wasn't what we had decided upon, but he said he had seen it in one of the baby books and it had always stuck with him. No problem. But then next pregnancy was another boy. I wanted "David", but my developmental psychologist friend advised that if the other 2 start with K's the last one might feel "left out" or "different". :bang So we became one of those douchey families whose kids' names all start with K :rolleyes So of course the first thing I did was go out and buy a minivan just to seal the deal :lol

My cousin named all her boys with Z names. Zack, Zayne and Zander. She recently got pregnant hoping to have a girl but boy #4, Zayden, will be here in December.

Nice responses. These are just names that we are thinking about. Nothing set in stone. We have till sometime in Sept. to come up with one.

I wanted to hear opinions from the many different walks of life on here.

As for the comment let by Cubansucks...Keenan is an Irish name.

The middle name is probably going to be Otto, my wife's grandfather. So, like I said, just floating some names around. I was thinking Keenan Otto, but we'll see.

That's how it is for my cousin. All 4 of her kids start with J. Our daughter is Kaylee. So, that's where 2 of the K names started. :lol

You NEVER tell anyone what you are thinking about naming your baby.

This. As you can see, people can be rude about it. Some girl I worked with when I was pregnant with my second baby told me to my face "That's silly" when I told her his name, and I would hardly consider his name silly. But she was nearly illiterate so maybe she didn't like multisyllabic names.

Well my cousin, Syl, and a co worker of hers were pregnant at the same time. They discussed names because the other lady had no clue what to name her baby, and she told her they were going to name the baby Ashley. Well the coworker was due a few months earlier, had her baby and named her Ashley! But her baby died shortly after. So when my cousin delivered she still named her baby Ashley---and the coworker threw a huge tantrum, declared Syl a cruel, heartless bitch and never spoke to her again!

That's terribly sad.

My best friend and her sister are probably going to both end up with girls named Alexandria. They each claim they thought of it first. It's where they were born. I'm pretty sure my friend thought of it first, because she's been talking about it since high school, but her sister says it was her idea. My friend's not budging. She doesn't care what her sister names her kids, she's sticking with Alexandria.

Oh, and one more name story. When we were pregnant, and again when RG's sister was pregnant, RG's dad really wanted us to use the name "Wayne" because it was his dad's name. Yeah, neither of us used it, but his little brother caved and named his kid Hupp Wayne. So Jim called him and said, "I can't believe you named your kid Hupp Wayne!" John said, "Don't start. I know Hupp's a weird name, but we like it..." RG said, "I think Hupp's a cool name. I'm concerned with a middle name like "Wayne" he'll grow up to be a serial killer."

I have no problem with people naming their children the same names I will use for mine ( when I have them.)

Imitiation is the sincerest form of flattery. And besides, my kids will always be the cuter, smartest, and talented ones so it will be easy to tell them apart from all the other people who share their name. :)

Both of my kids' names end with the letter "n" ... like their last name. But they aren't unusual names.

Personally, I really don't like all of the trendy names with the weird spellings. But to each their own. :)

OP

Not a fan of the 'ayden' craze, so I don't care for Brayden. There are thousands of them. Kyler sounds made up, so I don't care for it.

The other two are nice, if not entirely my style. I think Keenan Otto sounds nice.

Our boy and girl name both happen to have the same initials, but it was purely coincidence.

My father can't remember them though - he tried yesterday and came up with Gaylord Ralph for a boy. Which . . . not really, Dad. You may think our choice is lame and fruity, but it's nowhere near Gaylord Ralph, thank God.
