Oh and the Max Payne story has alot of potential. If done right it could be really bad ass, but it's too bad it was butchered and unlikely to be remade any time soon.

Final Fantasy VI - A GOOD movie, although Advent Children was cool.
Chrono Trigger
Resistance would make a sweet movie
Half Life (but only if it got the kind of reproduction treatment that Lord of the Rings received
Metroid
.... more as I think of them.

And I've LOVE to see a really fantastic reproduction of Battlestar Galactica (new series) as a game.

You mean FF VII? That would be a good movie, but it's hard to see them topping the story that's told through the game.

Haven't all of these already been made into crappy movies?

Double Dragon has all the potential to be a badass movie. Done right, with lots of violence, and no cast members from "Party of 5".

If they were spectacular:
1. Zelda/OOT
2. Halo
3. Half Life (but it would be near impossible)
4. Elder Scrolls

If they were good:
4. Metal Gear Solid
5. Final Fantasy
6. Splinter Cell
7. Wolfenstein
8. Star Fox

If they were what they were:
9. Ninja Gaiden

i think that was his point, even though Mortal Kombat was a good movie, it was its sequel that was garbage. The original did have one of the best movie theme songs ever.

My bad Mardigan.

No doubt about the theme song from Mortal Kombat. To this day it inspires many young kids with mullets to perform musical katas with nunchucks on that Paul Mitchell karate competition on ESPN2.

That would be sick. I have no idea if he's been in anything since The Protector, but he needs to headline in a major American action flick. Dude's unreal.

Half Life (but only if it got the kind of reproduction treatment that Lord of the Rings received.
I think as far as scale and story goes, Half Life could be incredible. Amazing actually. The problem with turning it into a film is the conflict with the whole mystique that Valve's gone to great lengths to create, in which we the player never see nor hear from Gordon Freeman. Ever.

Do they just abandon that central theme of the series in order to make a would-be great movie?

And if they didn't and they filmed it Blair Witch style with the audience as a silent Gordon Freeman, could it be successful? All I know is it would take an incredible acting job out of whoever played Alyx... and probably the best directing job we've seen in a decade.

Somewhat of a weak premise, the artistic success rate of video game movies is like 0.003%. And the hordes of failures makes me scared to list my favorites, because they might actually get made.

But if it were properly done, Final Fantasy VII would be number 1 for sure.

I'm truly optimistic that if Peter Jackson were to make a Halo movie (I know it's only rumored) that it will stand out from the rest of the 'games turned movies' for the positive. Not to mention the game already has the great instrumental music to fit a great epic movie.

Well if you're gonna go for that, what about Ratchet and Clank? Chode Regulator and Mookie used to jack off to that game.

I'm as big a Ratchet & Clank fan as there is (eagerly anticipating the newest game this fall), but the only way it could be made a movie is to do an animated feature, at which point I'd really rather just play the game again.

God of War has a good enough story to make a movie. As does the Resistance series. Half Life, too. Shadow of the Colossus is one of my very favorite games and would be amazing to see on a big screen, but I don't think there's enough story there to sustain a film (the mystery is part of the appeal) and I'd hate to see a bullshit story thrown together to make a movie work. Portal is in kind of the same boat for me -- there's probably not enough there to make a good film as is, but GLaDOS is such an awesome character that it's fun to consider.

I'd like to see:

Metroid
Ninja Gaiden (with the story of the first one on NES)
Metal Gear
Chrono Trigger (would Chrono actually talk in this one?)
Wolfenstein 3D
Final Fantasy IV, V, and VI
Startropics (would make a good kids adventure movie)

Honestly, I don't know if any of these could really be a GOOD movie, except Wolfenstein. I think that could be turned into a really interesting story. Metal Gear may have potential too. Hugh Jackman would be an awesome Snake.

I think what would be absolute greatness is to have a Double Dragon movie based on the 1st NES game, and basically for 2 hours, there is no dialogue. Just Jean Claude Van Damme beating the pulp out of a thousand guys (most of which are clones of the same 5 or 6 people, including two big green Abobos), then getting the girl in the end.

Most of the good ones have already been touched upon. I still hope there will be a Zelda movie sometime in my youthful lifetime, but I also worry that they wouldn't be able to do it without screwing it up. Better to leave the legacy untarnished. Same goes for Final Fantasy VII.

Anybody remember that game D? It would be pretty easily adaptable, but not too unlike every other horror flick out there, I guess.

Myst would be good, but probably not enough action to keep an audience for 2 hours. They could always just skip to the fireplace, cheat on the code, and make the movie 4 minutes long.

:lmao at the text-based Zork movie.

Mario Brothers. they should make a comedy of them like in this current day as washed up old game stars. I'm thinking Billy Bob Thorton as Luigi and Norm MacDonald as Mario. Make it a mix of Bad Santa and the Wrestler where they are drunk and both a mess, but trying to live off their fame as the real Mario Brothers

Zork Movie to Be Released In All Its Full Text Glory
By Brian Briggs and Francisco Rangel

Hollywood, CA - Lion's Gate Films, which had secretly acquired a few years ago the rights to produce a Zork movie, has announced that it will be released in summer 2009.

The movie is set in a first-person perspective, and will be filmed in full text video, and narrated by Morgan Freeman.

A screen capture from a camcorder (seen at left) from a private showing at Comic-Con 2008 has been circulating on the Internet. The quality is typical of a camcorder, but it has fans excited.

"I'm glad they are keeping true to the spirit of the game. Had they given it to Uwe Boll, it would have been a nonstop frenzy of exploding grues," commented Dan Pewters, who has been playing Zork for over 17 years.

Gerald Hemmingway, team leader of the visual effects team hired for the movie, explained, "Using the wider movie screens, we'll have much less text-wrapping, and be able to fit in more action onto the screen simultaneously. This is something the fans of Zork should be looking forward to."

Hemmingway said the biggest challenge was to determine what text color to use."We've experimented with amber on black, green on black and white on black. So far the test audiences have reacted most favorably to green on black."

The studio promises that this will be the most faithful video game to reproduction ever made. "It'll be like Morgan Freeman is sitting behind you reading the game as you play the perfect game. We think it'll be a dream come true for most Zorkers or Zorkies or whatever they call themselves," said Lion's Gate CEO Beverly Crocker.
