The following are the leading shotblockers among active NBA players this coming season.

SHAQUILLE O'NEAL 2,628
TIM DUNCAN 2,118
MARCUS CAMBY 1,994
BEN WALLACE 1,948
THEO RATLIFF 1,902
KEVIN GARNETT 1,733

Ben Wallace seems about done and is having trouble finding a new team so maybe we can take his name off the list. Will KG be the same after his injury? The Spurs definitely get tougher in the middle with Theo and Timmy. I don't know how much Theo's contract is for but its bound to be a bargain compared to Camby's. Great acquisition by the Spurs IMO.

To be fair - a closer look needs to be at recent history.

All 6 of those guys are on the tail end of their careers. Marcus Camby may be the healthiest of the bunch.

Duncan still getting it done. 11th in the NBA at 1.68/game with qualified stats (*To qualify: a player must be on pace to play 70 games or block 100 shots.)

Ratliff may be about done. 1.0/game in 46.

Yeah, I think he still has gas in the tank and will have an effect on games.

I'm not sure he'll get that this season.

32 minutes Duncan
28 minutes McDyess
15 minutes Bonner
12 minutes Blair
9 minutes between Ratliff, Haislip, and Mahinmi

That's not even counting the possibility of some Finley small-ball PF (ugh).

Ratliff should start to give us another shotblocker down low. McDyess will most likely get more minutes though.

Duncan is 2 blocks away from passing Shawn Bradley for 11th all time I think.

Yup. One to tie, two to pass for 11th in all-time career.

Duncan has 2118, Bradley 2119.

For active players Duncan is third with the 2118. Shaq is second with 2628, and Dikembe Mutombo is still listed as first with 3289.

Too bad the NBA didn't keep rebound stats from the start. Would love to know how many rebounds Wilt, Russell and the other great big men of the past were able to grab..

Maybe if he knows he'll get limited minutes, then he knows he doesn't really need to pace himself and he can be more aggressive defensively..
