Because it could come down to that, although seems unlikely we bring SJ back to me. Let's assume a healthy Manu to make this easier.

That is why I'm thinking let's rule out S Jax. We can't afford him, RJ, and Manu in 2010. My point was to make people understand that. S Jax = no go financially unless we swap him out for Manu after 2009. Now, it is feasible to have both on the roster this year, and maybe that is worth it for a title, saying goodbye to Manu. Difficult question, and not one that everyone seems to understand.

But yes..this would definitely qualify as one of those threads that just don't belong. It would definitely call for a DOUBLE facepalm..

sorry its debatable and manu certainly isnt 4 times better
Well we can debate this issue all day, and anyone on Jackson's side can be wrong if they wish, but mathematically, Ginobili is at least 4 times better than Jack.

Wh-what? :lol
I'm ignoring all the SJAX threads at this point. You wanna be realistic?
Go there.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine
Make it happen. Then realize you'd have to give up more than 2 guys to complete this trade.
If you try to add in Manu, prepare to get hounded by Ginobili fans.
It just doesn't work and makes no sense when the Spurs already Jefferson on the team!
And yes, you were mad. :lmao I wasn't the one name calling people to begin with.
Oh god, there was no point to starting this thread to begin with. I didn't read the thread starters post and went
into "instant flamming mode". :lol
This could have been easily avoided had you just kept the conversation in 1 thread. Hopefully the merge these threads
soon, which they probably will.
Good points about S Jax not being feasible, that was precisely the conclusion I came to. You worry too much though ray about merging threads and the like. Relax a little. I think the people who stress over that cause more harm than good, and are the ones trying to do the bullying. The people that don't mind don't express that sentiment because then they just get attacked. So there was a little more going on here than just me getting mad, or whatever. I will never stoop to degarding someone for starting a thread. I just don't agree with that perspective on this. There is always gonna be "clutter" in the opinion of someone.

large irritating pictures in my profile? I don't have any pictures in my profile..thanks though. No one thinks we're superior, douchebag...we just think it's ignorant to take a guy like Manu, who is a penetrator, exactly what the Spurs need, and trade him away for a guy who jacks up shots, exactly what the Spurs DON'T need. I know everybody gets a hard on for Jax, and he's a great player..but we need someone who can get in the paint..Tony can't do it all by himself. Manu is a clutch player, and is a catalyst for this team...everyone knows that with a healthy Manu, we are a contender..if he's not healthy, we're in trouble. So why would we give that player up? And for someone who's going around telling everyone to stop being rude to people, talk about the pot calling the kettle black. I never said one rude thing to you, and yet you feel the need to bash my posting. If you're going to start a thread in a message board, you have to learn to expect that not EVERYONE is going to LOVE your ideas, and because it's a message board, they are going to let you know how they feel. If you're gonna be a whiney little girl about it, don't start them in the first place. You already posted this in another thread, and nobody responded to it. This should give you an idea that nobody wanted to talk about it. In turn, posting it as it's own thread turns you into a :troll. Amen brother, go back and look at some of the the Gino highlights, what a stud!
Question though, once again, is it worth it to have Manu + Jack in 2009, then only Jack and no Manu from 2010-2012, due to inability to afford Manu contract after this year?
We would be the clear favorite with the addition of Jax for some of our lesser players. An NBA title in 2009, then Jax instead of Manu from 2010 on through 2012? Hmmm.....

All these cliches about trolls and whiny girls, that is a bit tiresome but OK. It is not rude to defend myself against an unjustified attack in my opinion. Somehow that assumes that the FO will not resign Manu, and that is asinine. The only way Manu is not re-signed is if he becomes physically unable to play, the Spurs go bankrupt or Manu comes up with a bad case of Iwanttoplayinternationalbasketballitis. If the first happens, then the Spurs will cross that bridge when they come to it, if the second happens, they can't even afford Jack, and if the third happens then something really bad happened between TimmyD, Pop and Manu, and it probably started when someone said something about Stephen Jackson coming back to the Spurs.
I won't argue that if you can get Jackson for Finley, Bonner, et al, then you do it...but only if you can afford it long term, and only if you think that he can fit in as the 4th, 5th or 6th option. But never in lieu of Manu...

URINEOBILI: I have an alternative suggestion. Anyone with more than 2000 posts should be banned & have to take 3 months off in rehab. URINEOBILE has posted an average of 200 times a day for 30 months. Get a life, wife, ho, full time 12 hour job, significant other or a dog. I don't want or need any sympathy. Simply stating a fact, start a thread and attacks came. I was in no mood and wasted no time firing back. All I ever wanted to do was talk about the topic, but I don't like being dissed either, who does? I do feel a little sorry for you being that sensitive about your signature line, so I'll apologize about that. I think you came in highly sarcastic at about the wrong time though, and my response was in line with that, nothing more. If you think my response was unwarranted than sorry about that, again I felt it about an even exchange and we have to be able to give and take to survive on here! I am not about denigrating you as a human being, or anyone else (other than perhaps uruginobili).

Instead of 1000 posts as the standard, why don't we all submit our SAT scores and sexual orientation. Thank God for the First Amendment!
Right on. Sometimes thousands of posts is a sign of trouble! This reminds me of the old Doctor Seuss story of the Sneetches, can't we all just get along? (no)

lol...not about denigrating me...calling me a dickhead? What is that? I'm not sensitive about my signature..just don't think anyone has the right to tell me what I can and cannot do, when I am allowed to put what I want in it. Once more, if you don't like them, you can always select to disable them. Apology accepted....and if you're upset, I apologize as well.

I got nothing against you, it just seemed I touched a nerve on the sig line, since only the Spurs portion was worth my attention, and that is a given on here anyway. You called me a douchebag as I recall, LOL.
My "defensive" posture was simply a similar perspective, that I did not feel I should be corrected when people are starting threads such as "Tim Duncan PF."
There is more to the question than just S Jax > Manu straight up or vice versa. I was attempting to start discussion that would reveal the issue as more complex than it appears on the surface, and succeeded somewhat, albeit with much "noise" along the way. Funny stuff.

As much as I liked Jax's toughness and swagger I would still go with Manu.

Manu has more basketball IQ and flair than Jax ever will. Still would like a serious consideration of whether 2009 with Manu + Jax, then 2010-12 Jax only no Manu would be worth it to possibly cinch the '09 title. Anyone that questions why GS would part with Jax and his relatively reasonable contract makes a good point, so obviously not likely. If they were tired of Jax and wanted to dump the last 3 years at $27 million then maybe, but that is probably more than enough to keep Manu and the way to go.

He has to be spork. This knoxxx character definitely needs to take a year's worth of anger management classes. Then maybe a couple years of personality classes. In one thread he has managed to piss off 99.9999999% of the good Spurs fans & posters here on SpursTalk.com Hell this guy makes doc_house come across as a sweet, little angel.
And since there are already 786 threads about Jax, this thread has been a waste of bandwidth and the valuable time of Spurs posters. When are these newbies going to learn how to search for threads already covering a lsubject. With Jax's ungodly salary we'd have to dump half our team. Besides Pop already had one run with Jax and .... well the rest is history!

The point of this thread was to highlight that picking up Jax would likely cost us Manu after this year, and is it worth it? Seems that many were having trouble realizing that was the situation. Some of us are trying to get past the endless bickering and stay on subject, are you capable of that?

No I'm not simply because this is an extremely stupid thread. Manu will retire a Spur. Pop had it with Jax. Jax is overpaid as it is. You never know which night his head will be threaded on straight. Nice talking to you, sporkie.

You lost me there. I had another user ID that I rarely used years ago, then created one that I liked better recently. It was nothing like "sporkie", I just figured that was some redneck dipshit insult that I never heard of in my 38 years, mostly living in San Antonio but not currently.
As far as this being an imbecilic thread, surely you read the part about stay the hell off then, and you really think your opinion on that matters to me?
I left this board for years because of assholes like you that try to dominate it. I came back because of my enthusiasm for the upcoming season and out of boredom. I'd say me getting a little angry is perfectly understandable with this type of crappy treatment that is commonplace here. However, I have a thick skin (ultimately) and good sense of humor, and am secure enough not to give a flying fuck what a redneck goober likes you thinks is a good thread or not. Please stay gone, thanks.

You my friend are the problem, not me. More thread police and off topic comments. Traffic would go down dramatically with a highly restrictive thread policy. I think I can count on one hand the threads I have started, its not like I just look for any silly excuse. There are many topics on the main page I think are lame, but I don't get on those ones berating the thread-starter. I just avoid them, it's really not that hard if you make a small effort to do so.

Jack is a big game player. As much as Northside gives all the credit for the Game 6 comeback win in the 2003 WCF to lil' Stevie Kerr, it was Jack who brought them back from the dead before Kerr hit a few treys. Lest we forget Jack's performance in Game 6 of the '03 Finals.

That's actually a great question - couldn't have won in 03 without Jax, couldn't have won in 05 without Manu... however, Manu does things that I've never seen any other balla do, he's won at every level, and seeing him on a basketball court invariably brightens my day. Jax is clutch, but he also takes some horrendous shots and is usually either wonderful or horrible, little in between.
No disrespect to Jax, but I'd take Manu every day and twice on Sundays. The guy is a winner and never thinks about anything but how he can help his team to win. (He also took less to stay here, whilst Jax ran away for more money, when at the time he didn't necessarily deserve much more than he was offered).

Manu is a more efficient player. He scores points and makes an impact while playing fewer minutes and taking less shots.

hmm this is actually one of the best questions asked in here for awhile. This is crazy hard to say. I would say years before 07 the spurs couldn't have done as well without gino (after jax left) and putting jax in his place. BUT, since then obviously with ginos health you gotta say jax would be the better choice, and everyone has to admit jax developed year after year after SA. So really ultimately I would really go with jax. Could you imagine jax-who normally is healthy-took some time last year-but he's a healthy dude----parker,jax,jeff,dice,dunc.....shit id be happy as hell to see what would happen. Ultimately tho what i always wished for wash jax stayed in SA and now we'd prob have 1 or 2 more chips (i aint kidding i think for sure that's true, who knows tho, mo), and we wouldn't have to go get jeff this summer it would've always been jax, gino, parks, td, and one of the other shitbag bigs we had over the years. I just think the spurs route the last 5 years would've been diff if jax stayed and i mean in a good way......i hate to say it jax over gino

Before Jack hit a three on the 4th quarter of that game... Manu had a layup, free throws and a three that ended up being the first of the spree... all this BEFORE Jax... so you can credit Manu b4 Jax, he then believed... :stirpot:

hmm this is actually one of the best questions asked in here for awhile.
OMG, someone thought the thread was not awful! Looking back, sure I was aware there was another Jax thread on the first page since I posted on it, but wanted to focus on the issue that we cannot afford both after this season. So Jax would cost us Manu 2010 on, is it worth it? Then I momentarily forgot why I even started the thread when the hecklers immediately came out. So for the record, I was not intentionally "lying" when I said I checked the main page and there was not a Jax thread, just highly agitated (obviously) by such an immediate attack from the thread police. I know, ridiculous I even felt the need to rehash this, but that is how it goes on here as we all know.
As for the name calling, perhaps I initiated it and it was an overreaction, but some folks still got what they deserved in my book. You know who you are. Others were much kinder, and perhaps got caught in my firestorm, which I wish had not happened.
Back to the discussion (at last). Jax is just way irrelevant in comparison to Manu for us. As a reminder, I did say a healthy Manu. You may have missed that at the outset, quite understandable. Obviously Manu or anyone else is little good to us if he can't play, or plays as a shadow of their former self.
