Maybe I missed something, but were the Spurs trying to acquire Vince Carter and then decided to go with RJ before the draft? Check out his twitter for those dates.

Maybe they tried trading Mason instead of Bowen in the Jefferson deal?

I think they're willing to trade Mason as his name has popped up in all the deals that almost happened. Camby, Carter anyway.

Me too....Son of a gun!!

TD deserves one more shot to get ring #5 before Kobe or Shaq!

Also, Mason isn't going to be traded. He played well most of last season except when he became the de-facto back-up PG.

I don't think he will go back to that role this season. He will probably start and get great looks from RJ and TP getting into the lane and TD getting double teams.

Mason will make some more game winning shots during the regular season and hopefully that will carry over into the postseason.

IIRC, it was reported that a Carter deal was being discussed at the same time as the Jefferson deal, so it makes sense..RJ was chosen because they felt like he would fit better, and we would have to give up less IIRC..

Thank God RJ was the final choice. I think having RJ and Mason fit better as Spurs and help the team more than VC.

Carter is a better player than RJ but RJ was a better fit for the spurs, and a better deal too.

I recall Mason telling TP," Were going to be a monster by the end of the season" during of the first games last year. Didnt work out so good.

This group is just getting us all exicted. With Tony the break and 2 speedy wings cutting for dunks, its gonna be a nice SHOWTIME this year. I forsee lots and lots of dunks.
TP wont be a one man show this year, he gonna get some assists all over the place.
I think RJ gets the most dunks this year.

Dam,,,its gonna be a FUN year!!

For real? Cause The Runners always produce good beats.

Anyways I'm looking at all the positives that happened this off season. Fuck all the other bull shit! I hope we slowly but surely kick the shit out of every team in the NBA on our way to a 5th Championship. But that's just me... :lobt2:

yup. It always pays to have a stone cold shooter with ice in his veins in your arsenal.

TP will be fine. But IMO we can't win it all without either of the big 3

Yep. We really need health on our side. It's win or bust depending on those guys' health.:toast

If the team stays healthy, we'll love Mason, Bonner, and even Finley. All three are pretty good role/rotation players, and will be great against opposing backups. They only looked bad this past season because they had to play too many minutes, most of them against opposing starters.

With health, McDyess will take some of Bonner's minutes, RJ will take most of Finley's, and Manu will take a good chunk of Mason's.
