i hadn't given it as much thought, but how do we match up against the celtics, particularly with bowen maybe heading that way (bummer).

Do you really think the celtics want Bowen's 4 million dollar contract with the 2 mill guarantee?
Bucks will probably waive him.

I expect Milwaukee to pay Bowen the 2 Million and let him go but I am curious as to what moves the Spurs make because they have 15 under contract already. The Spurs would have to make a trade to make room......

Spurs match up very well with Boston. I think if you guys ever meet, you will win that series handily.

Parker has the edge over Rondo at this point, and SA has the better bench; however, all would come down to who is healthier.

We beat them in Boston last season with last years squad, should be able to beat them in a 7 game series with this squad IMO.

i guess i'm surprised that they haven't come up more considering how they handled the finals, particularly the last game, the year before.

Spurs should do very well against Boston.

Yea, I can't see how Boston (even with Bowen on the floor) has enough guns to throw at the Spurs. Our problem last year besides spotty defense was scoring droughts, and I don't think we're going to have too much of a problem with that this season. Muwaha. Muwhahahahaha.

Sheed can guard Duncan pretty well because of his length, thats the only thing Im really worried about...Spurs should have the edge overall though. Sucks that Bowen wont be around to make Allen cry like a little bitch.

Also Bonner > Scalabrine.

Scalabrine > Bonner

If you are talking about a Michael Rapaport lookalike contest.

McDyess < Perkins
Duncan >>> Garnett
Jefferson < Pierce
Ginobili > Allen
Parker >> Rondo

But where we really destroy the Celtics is the bench. I mean absolutely OBLITERATE them off the bench.

i'd have thought mcdyess equal or better than perkins. have i just not watched perkins enough or has mcdyess fallin' off a lot since 05?

So after Garnett gets finished wearing down Duncan they bring Sheed fresh off the bench to guard him and you're not worry about that:nope

I'll take the Spurs. It is too early to predict but if things go well for both teams, the Spurs will have the advantage of the bench. All of the starters are pretty evenly matched, except Rondo vs. Parker where Parker has the huge advantage.

I think we'll match up well with Boston

Parker has the advantage as someone said over Rondo

Manu if healthy can have an advantage

Jefferson, I really don't know much about this match-up with Pierce. Do you think he'll match-up good with Pierce?

Duncan on Garnett should be a good match-up.

Who is going to be our Center?

The Lakers are our worst matchup, and that won't change..if we play Boston, it means we beat LA in the WCF, and that means we can beat anybody..

Most of you aren't aware that McDyess usually got the assignment of guarding the opposing teams top big man when he was with Detroit. He's not going to shut anyone down, but he plays very physical defense and WILL block a shot or 2 in a one on one situation.
Perkins is physical and strong. But McDyess had better numbers last season if you look. And his numbers were much better than Perkins during the time he was a starter.

Baring injury (it would crush me) McDyess is really going to surprise a lot of you once the season gets going in how good he actually is. And regardless to how he plays, you'll at least know he's giving everything he's got EVERY night.

Spurs matchup pretty damn well with the Celts. I would expect it to be a low scoring series if these 2 teams were to meet in the finals.

It would probably be the most star studded Finals in recent memory....

Parker (future HOF?)
Allen (HOF)
Ginobili (HOF)
Duncan(HOF)
Pierce (future HOF?)
Garnett (HOF)

One for the ages....

I'm looking forward to seeing this year's Celtics play defense. With the addition of Rasheed they will never need to play without two of Rasheed, Perkins, and Garnett on the floor at the same time. With Rondo on the perimeter this virtually assures them of the league's best defense.

With Rasheed and Marquis Daniels they'll be able to cut back the Big 3's minutes to the low 30's greatly reducing the prospect of injury.

Also Wallace will pull the opposing center out of the lane and open up driving opportunities that were not there before for Rondo, Pierce and Daniels.

Adding Daniels allows House to stay on the floor as Marquis can bring the ball up if needed.

Rondo should be better; he's improved every season.

They'll likely re-sign Big Baby or will be fairly compensated for him.

They'll be able to finish most games with a rested line up of Rondo, Ray Allen, Pierce, Garnett, and Rasheed.

They're going to be really good.

Sorry I'm a little late to this thread, but I felt that had the Spurs been healthy and met the Celtics in the 08 finals they would have won.

Manu absolutely annoys Pierce. I remember Pierce got pissed at Manu for locking him down in FIBA one time and tried to pick a fight with him

Then there is always the Bowen owning Ray Allen part. In 2008 Tony was head and sholders above Rondo, and then there was the KG vs Horry and Duncan. Rob probably would have done a very solid job on KG. maybe not an amazing one, but enough of one to keep KG from having a couple outstanding quarters.

Now though it will be interesting. McDyess on KG until the 4th quarter I bet. manu on Pierce is still the match up I want. Jefferson on Allen seems good. Parker/Hill on Rondo. Ratliff and Ian on Perkins?

That works fine. Both ways there are some even match ups. Sheed will be the more interesting player.

nobody can stop PPPPPAAAAAAAAUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLL PIERCE!!!:lobt:
