How naive can you be. Having Bynum healthy will help. You being so near sighted, you fail to see that Boston is not as strong as they were two season ago. PJ Brown and Posey were huge for the C's two years ago. Powe is on his way out, and Baby is still up in the air. I think we match up well with the C's bigs. Bynum/Perkins, KG/Pau, Odom/Sheed. That's a push if you ask me, not to mention that our team is much more mature then they were in 08. If the C's lose Big Baby, then they don't stand a chance against us. I love how Spur fans use other teams to determine how far the Lakers will go, but not their own...:lol

Oh, and according to you, our bench is weak, and yet we went to the finals back to back.

Far from a push dude, those guys are too physical for you, not to mention they play with a lot more passion than Bynum and Pau. Bynum has no post up game. YOU agreed that your bench is weak when you commented that you don't need a bench to win a title. I was referring to the Lakers front line performance two years ago against Boston, not that this years Spurs team can't hold their own against the Lakers front line.

Yeah, and I know what's comin' soon: you'll be listing 'Cake Boy' Jefferson at 6.9". Don't even start that shit around here. Uh, uh. No way, Jose'.

He's 6'7" & he's stayin' 6'7".

So the Lakers bring back the exact same core, a healthy Bynum, and Ron Artest and are somehow worse.

Spurs add RJ, 90-year old McDyess, 90-year old Ratliff, and a shitload of rookies and they are now favorites to win it all?

Gotta love Spur fan logic.

Lakers are nearly the same from last year, the replaced length and speed w/size and ??

A 90 yr old Dice and Ratliff are big improvements from our front line last year, not to mention Ian and Blair. Those rookies will be an upgrade for the Spurs, not to mention Mason returning to his natural position of SG. Spurs fan logic?! What the fuck do you expect? You are in Spurstalk not fakertalk!:rollin

Spurs yes, Lakers I'm not convinced. Spurs talent went up 3 notches, versus the Lakers ?? notches. They sure didn't improve their PG situation, but then again they go time.. time to raid the Grizzlies again. Buss is like the godfather.. you never know when he's going to call in a favor. :lol

No, no, hater, you guys have failed miserably to make your mark with the repeat. Kobe repeated. Hell, Kobe hit that trio. But, not you miserable failures. Jesus, Mother Mary & Joseph, Media/ESPN even had the goofy {every other year} thing workin' for ya's. Yeah, can ya imagine puttin' that malarkey up there as an accomplishment? What in the Hell is wrong with you people!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why you bitches act like repeats are the norm?
It ain't. If you can remember to when Riley made that promise of the repeat, why did he do that? It's because it hadn't been done in a really long time. It's a cyclical thing. Maybe you guys are on it, maybe not. The Spurs haven't yet won an even year title, and they live to stop your evil horde.

And if you must know, the 4-letter hates us so much, that they talk about us only if we accomplish something or we get beat by one of their darlings like you. They hate you but they love to talk about you. What's worse? Accomplishing something but limited media coverage so no one knows of your accomplishment, or having that same media berate you LAKERS for being failures, other than the title last year, for the last 7 seasons prior, you were failures.

At least we didn't tank games just to get a high pick. Back to that again? Did you see that the team had Dominique Wilkins at SF for that year. Loss of DRob, Elliott, and Chuck Person. Yeah, tank...sure, whatever.

Can't control the lotto balls and statistically, Boston had the best chance. Why tank if you can't control the balls? Perhaps, you're still mad that the Forum's last game was a sweepage by the 99 team. Maybe that's why a pre-season game is being played there. Too much bad memories :lmao

or having that same media berate you LAKERS for being failures, other than the title last year, for the last 7 seasons prior, you were failures.

It's our cross, Man, and we bear it in silence. Media carries your water, your end of the log, they're your personal bagman. As Lakers we neither expect such treatment nor would we accept it if it were forthcoming. We'll go on to the end as we always have: alone, forsaken, inside the wire. We'll acknowledge our trespasses (Boston '08) as we trespass against those who have come for us (Sacramento '02) and we'll end them, because it's easy to do justice, but, very hard to do right.

Spurs may not have repeated but their main milestone of being a true contender for as long as they have is pretty much just as rare and impressive an accomplishment. Kobe may have repeated, but he's also never always been on a great team.

"Spurs may not have repeated"---

CWEBB & Wallace may not have walked away from Horry---

& the 2000 Lakers team was pure & hearty. Daddy had no agenda, he was just Shaquille. Harper, Fox and Shaw were splendid and true professionals.

Your points are specious, ming. You have not repeated & Kobe has been on a great team.

Obviously you need to repeat in order to get your monkey off your back. re-read my post. i said Kobe has not always been on a great team.

and i know that the Spurs' monkey (lol) is not having repeated. but still, i'm happy with what they've accomplished, and that they didn't have any stretch where the team was shit for three years ... we've set ourselves apart from many teams past and resent in that respect. who will be the next team that can achieve greatness that SA has in three decades (if they keep it up for a couple mroe years)? it's an amazing feat.

and the media scrutinizes LA more than any other team for obvious reasons - reasons which they've benefited from more than anything else. you're not going to get my sympathize with LA because of that.

Duncan was not on a great team last year, nor the year before. Both of those teams got skull fucked 4-1. You call that great?

Seriously, since when was just making the playoffs a qualification for being a great team? In that case Kobe's been on great teams his entire career save one season.

For the last two seasons Duncan's been on subpar teams. One that got trashed 4-1 in the WCF, and one that got trashed 4-1 in the 1st round.

So according to you, what makes a great team? Overall Tim has been on pretty dam good teams, he's won 4 titles in the last 10 yrs. Last year's team was by far the worse team he has ever been on. But other than that, Spurs have always been in the mix.

this is stupid. the Spurs were ranked 3rd or 4th in '08, and arguably, with a healthy Manu, they would have been in that same category last year.

you spew hate for the Spurs no matter what. if Duncan gave half of his salary to charity you'd find a way to make it into a negative :lol. so let me give a non-Spurs related analogy in the hopes that you see things more rationally:

if a guy finished 3rd in a marathon of 30 people, with an injured leg, he'd be a great runner, correct?

it's the same damn thing. anytime you're in the 90th percentile of anything you're doing great, unless it's the special olympics, and don't take that personally, lakaluva.

Frankly, I agree. You have to be extremely lucky & good to win it just once. We'll be good, but, I God's we were so lucky. It seemed everything after the Bynum mishap was positive:

* KG going out. You know as soon as it was confirmed he would not be back Kobe locked on.

* Utah sneaking in over the Suns and then promptly rolling over. That was key. The Suns get in there and it's a different expectation. Suns get their hard on, Daddy gets excited.

* Houston's injuries. It was like a dream. Yao was devastating, but, the injury to Mutombo was important as well.

* That idiot for Denver tripping Kobe. It was never close after that. Kobe was incensed.

* Nelson being out like that. Another dream come true. Then Lee missing those layups. It was over then.

* Odom showing up as soon as the Playoffs commenced. WTF was that all about? Like yet another dream.

Your post reeks of so much cum on your breath, its hard to stomach it. The Spurs were not in the 90th percentile last season. Out of 16 teams that made the playoffs, the Spurs were probably better than 2... and that's stretching it. If you want to go a step further, the Spurs were the worst team in the playoffs for the Western Conference. Would you call the Blazers, Mavs, or Rockets a great team? No you wouldn't, but they all were better than the Spurs.

You Spur clowns are the only ones that bitch and moan about injuries, as if other teams have none. Magic fans were not complaining about Jameer, the Celtics were not complaining about KG, the Rockets were without TMAC and Yao, and yet all of these teams played with much more heart than the Spurs. The Spurs literally crawled on all fours, and took one up the ass from the Mavs.

Your current team only looks good on paper. You better pray to your God that those unproven bench players you have pan out, if they don't, I'll damn sure be here to let you know. You all are expecting a lot from that fruit cake wearing a skirt over there. Lord knows that I want the Spurs to be fully healthy, and the one guy to not be on his period come playoff time, because all these excuses are getting old.

Cul said it best, there is a reason why the spurs never could repeat: in order to win a title, everything for them had to be absolutely perfect: duncan and ginobilli healty, avoiding the mavs, injuries to other plaers, suspensions to others. The smallest hiccup, challenge, and the spurs lose. That ain't a dynasty....it's just being at the right place at the right time....several times.

And spurs fan represent this way of thinking in their excuses:"but but, if ginobili was healthy, but but if duncan was healthy, but but, if if if...."

you're right about that, but i think it's stupid to say that it hurts the Spurs' legacy in any way when it was completely out of their control. the Lakers, OTOH, sucked for three years due to the FO's incompetency, of which Kobe even admitted to.

You and the rest of your bandwagoners are turning the NBA forum into the NBA section at espn.com.

I ain't goin', mystar, and that is final. I'm stayin' rightch here. Get used to it, sonny.

How do you feel about the new CBA being discussed?

What do you think about zone defense in todays NBA?

I don't discuss germane issues, mystar. I'm here to side my Lakers brotherhood, cast a few troll lines, redden a few asses, & bust a few snuts.

The zone was only concocted in response to Daddy's brutal assault on Mutombo in the Philly Finals. Colangelo got scared of a 10-peat and convened a blue ribbon panel that diluted Daddy's effectiveness severely. It was a dirty thing to do.
