View Full Version : A Potential Trade With Toronto
Trade Parker to Toronto for Jose Calderon, Antoine Wright, and Toronto's first round pick next year. The salaries match. We would get a very good PG who distributes first and shoots second. Wright might be worth having. If not, buy him out and save part of his salary - Toronto can re-sign him on the cheap then, if they want to. We would also get a decent draft pick, plus salary relief for next season.
The Canadians would get a star PG who speaks French, and lives to play for the French NT. They might not even mind if he screws their season because of injuries from summer ball. Their expectations are already so low. Sacre Bleau... everybody is happy.
Then we could sign Iverson for the LLE, and still put another banner up at the end of the season.

Calderon plays for the Spanish National Team.
And the idea that a championship team needs a pass first PG is an absolute myth. The three best pass first PGs in recent NBA history are probably Kidd, Nash, and Stockton. All three are ringless.

Great. Instead of Parker playing for France, you'll have Calderon playing for Spain. Genius.

Although Caldron isn't as great as Tony Longoria is at present, I think it's definitely a good move for Spurs if the Raptors accept this deal. Now with Jefferson on team and likely to take 15 or some shots per night, TL won't get so many shots to continue his 20pts stat and a teammaking PG is expected to be more effective than an scorer like Tony Longoria. And the Espanol NT doesn't crush their players as hard as the French NT does, easily we can find it's a good trade for Spurs especially considering TL will miss considerable games next season due to the injury he recently harvested.

Parker and Bonner for Andrea Bargnani, Jose Calderon and 1st round pick sounds better.
Then Calderon can shoot and pass as starting PG. George Hill can be developed to another TP as backup.:downspin:

TP is way too valuable on offense to trade for anything when the spurs still lack offensive weapons, plus he's a pretty good perimeter defender. he's become a top 5 PG in the league and there's no way he would be traded, stupid.

The spurs don't need an over the hill gunner like Iverson.
Parker is a special player, a tough cover because of his speed. Calderon is nothing special.

Agreed. The massive upgrade needs the Big 3 intact and not broken up. And with TD's window closing why would you trade your PG - agruably the most difficult position to play - for another one who would then have to learn the system? That makes not sense due to the fact that it takes at least a year to get a handle on the Spurs system. That fact conflicts with TD's closing window. Bad idea.
No trade involving Parker is smart. Spurs ARE NOT in rebuilding mode, and the best chance we have to win a title is with Parker at the point.

Woah woah woah. Don't sell Chris Wallace short. He gave up Gasol for less than that.
I just felt like using Wallace's name.
We're talking about the best player on the Spurs! So I had to go to drastic measures to prove my point :lol
