I don't know what to think of this franchise. I mean, do they want to win or what?

They need to decide, are we just in this to make a profit or do we really want to spend the money it's going to take to put together a quality team.

You question has already been answered by the Hornets with trading away an injury-prone Chandler for another center who is much more talented and useful yet also has much more credit left on his contract.

I'm as surprised as you are about the Okafor trade. All I've been hearing about has been how cheap the organization is, then they make this kind of trade.

With a healthy, consistent Center, and with a decent back-up Power Forward, the Hornets have improved. Also, letting Peja come off the bench might be an interesting experiment. He played much better with West off the court.

son it is well known that I am not the biggest David West supporter myself ... but he isn't an all star? really? .... 2 years in a row the coaches and players thought so. I'll admit that last season his all star appearance was questionable and could have just as easily been Jefferson or Durant in his place ... but his 07 all star appearance was more than well deserved.

Better than last year? Yes, definintly, with the solid Chandler for Okafor swap and other teams in the west weakened by injuries and leaving players they should be fine. Back to 08 form? Not gonna happen...

Unless they finally manage to strengthen their bench via signings or trades they won't surprise anyone.

leemajors
08-02-2009, 10:48 AM
Perhaps. The team has to healthy first of all. Posey is coming off an injury, Peja is on and off the court with injuries and who knows how everything will work out. They'll likely be a 50 win team again but not a contender.

I will be interested to see how Okafor works with CP3.

It will be more interesting to see how long CP3 has to wait for him to get down the court.

The Hornets Are A Good Team, Middle of the Pack for Playoff Teams...... they Need Someone Who Can Create His own Shot Or create For Others(Other Then Chris Paul). Peja Is A Set Shooter, Posey Isnt Gonna Kill ya, Okafor Is more Defense Minded, West Is Coming Off Of A Bad year Compared to the Previous Year. They need Another 18 point A Game Guy..... IMO

Hornets will be good next year. I can see their lineup getting a lot of 2nd chance points around the rim as Okafor is one of the best o-boarders in the game.

It remains to be seen if the Hornets will be a just a "good team" or actually make a run at the tougher lineups. Right now, I'd put them below Dallas on a very close "third tier".

%of seats sold is the major factor in how the NBA ranks attendence. We are the smallest market in the league and sell out 99% of our seats, which is #8 in the league.
While I don't see us being serious contenders next year, we will be a good, solid playoff team.

ok..then I guess I don't understand this..how does Dallas sell 104.4% of their seats? How is that possible?

:lolThats a damn good question.

BTW Shastafarian, you can't sell seats you don't have. We had a higher % of tickets sold than a lot of great teams, and/or big market teams like Orlando, Houston, San Antonio, Toronto, Miami, Cleveland, Chicago, New York, and Philly. Pretty good for the smallest market in the league, wouldn't you say?

It is. I was just supplying the stats. I'm not sure I understand their percentages either. Still trying to figure those out. My first guess was oversells but I'm not so sure that's right.

Maybe suites, but they usually have a set limit per suite. Portland is the other team over 100%. I really have no idea on the over 100% thing.

son the extra percentage of tickets sold comes from standing room only or from seats sold that are not normally sold online because of a "blocked" view. there are normally at least a couple hundred seats in every venue that are not listed for sale on ticketmaster.com, etc. you have to buy them at the box office the day of the event and they will normally tell you that the seat has some kind of blocked view. these seats are also usually individual seats spread out all over the arena. I'm guessing the "blocked view" comes from handrails or poles, etc.

True... nevertheless Okafors numbers should go up. Paul has extremely good court vision and Okafor should benefit from his passes. 3-5 ppg more is realistic, although I think his FG% will go down a bit.

Wow. Remember when Sacramento had one of the best home courts in the league? Now they come in last? I was surprised to see that.

Regarding the Hornets...I think they'll have a similar season to last year. Probably win 50+ games and be somewhere in the 5-7 range. They're definitely not top 4 material in the West.

For BRHornet45's, Byron Scott's and all the fans of the Hornets sake, I hope your team does have a good season. But, they'll have to put that one game against Denver completely out of their heads. That was a freak show that P.T. Barnum would have paid good money to see.

I'm sure next year's team should be an improvement to this year's team. But is that really saying much?

Peja really needs to step it up. I can't believe he has such a huge contract and his production is nowhere near what he is getting paid. CP3 needs some real help. A lot of changes need to be made. Hopefully Okafur will work with CP3 and West well. West's D is severely lacking given his offensive talent.

Danny.Zhu
11-12-2009, 09:26 PM
No, they won't. Everyone in the league is familiar with CP3's tactics right now. His stealing drops this season as well.
