First off , I am new to the forums. I actually became a member just to post this thread. I have been reading threads since the beginning of the summer. I love this post-season. Think RC and the gang are doing a great job improving the roster.

Since the trade that brought Jefferson to SA, I have been waiting/hoping for Bowen to get waived. Yesterday it became a reality. I think the only thing we are missing is a good wing defender to backup at SF. I love Bowen and don’t want to see him play for another team. However I do think he is getting old and think a younger player that is in his prime is much more suitable.

I went on espn.com to the NBA trade machine and started proposing trades with some of the top SF that are noted for there good defense… and I came across Shane Battier! He is a great player with a good attitude that will fit in perfectly with our organization. He can shoot the ball and stick on the opponents superstars

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ly78jt (http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ly78jt)

I traded Bonner and Finley for him and it was a success. I think he can fill the hole we have in our lineup. I just want to get some input from you all as to whether this is a possibility and if so what you all think about the trade.

If we did get him our roster would be pretty comlete
Point Guards: TP, Hill, Williams
Wings: Manu, Jefferson, Mason, Battier
Bigs: TD, Mcdyess, Mahinmi, Blair, Haislip
Suits: Theo Ratliff, Hairston, XXX (Gist)

I think if you post the idea two more times in new threads, that will give it some gravitas.

Good luck!

Just sign Bowen again. He'll play well off the bench.

Interestingly it lowers the win total of the Spurs by two.

Do you think our FO is looking to make a trade before the season starts, or do you think they'll wait 'till it begins to see on court what positions need to be adressed?

Why have battier as a fantasy when you can have Kobe, Lebron, Wade, etc...? I mean, aim big, man.:toast

Just sign Bowen again. He'll play well off the bench.

And it would be at a SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper price.

I guess that settles that. Battier would make our team worse.:bang

Hell buddy why do the spurs want to give a division rival the two number one studs in the league?

not really gonna happen

Yeah it would be nice to get Battier, but I don't think the Rockets would trade Battier to a division rival.

You mean we can't trade Bonner and Finley for anybody we want as long as the salaries match-up?

Here's a tip: If the point of your post is contingent upon a NBA Trade Machine scenario, you should rethink your strategy.

i thinik were done until trade deadline, then if rockets suck or if another star (5-12 mill $) on a crap team becomes availible then we will make a move

Houston loves Battier and he is now the only reliable linchpin veteran with Artest gone, Yao gone and T-Mac a not too reliable physical specimen.

You'd be better off with a thread on "why don't we just get another couple of superstars since there are so many of them playing in the same league."

I'll never forget the time I traded Brent Barry for Dwayne Wade straight up. As soon as I found out it would work I called up Pop and RC, but they wouldn't listen to me. Do you have any idea how many titles we'd have by now?

I think I even worked Lebron in a separate deal too. We'd have Tim, Tony, Gino, Wade and Lebron on our team. That's like a guaranteed 3 extra titles from when I did it. In fact, I think the Spurs would have won the title from 2005 to this past season. Think about that. 1999, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009. Duncan would have passed Jordan.

And all because the trade machine said it would work. Why didn't the FO listen to me?

Why didn't the FO listen to me?
Because you did not include Shane Battier as one of the superstars to get? :lmao

According to Hollinger, both teams lose out on that deal. The Spurs would lose 2 more games while the Rockets lose an extra game. Too funny.

I just traded Jefferson to Cleveland for Lebron straight up. Then I dealt Bonner and Marcus Williams to OKC for Durant.

We could go small ball with Parker, Gino, Durant, Lebron and Duncan. That's a lot of athleticism on the floor with people who can score every which way imaginable.

RC, Pop, make it happen. LIKE YESTERDAY!!!!

I'd take Battier, but Houston won't take Bonner and Fin for him. I'd also take an evening with Nadia Bjorlin, but the likelihood of that happening, about the same as this trade proposal....

BTW, the two trades combined netted the Spurs an extra 34 wins. They would go from 54-28 last year to 88- (-)6 this year.

Do it.
