throughout elementary i was the best in my school, (it was a highly gifted school), then in jr high during lunch, i was the best point man, throwing alleyoop layups to my friends.
Then second week in highschool, basketball try outs, i made it to day 3, about 30 kids left, we split up into teams, and for the first time we had coaches telling us what to do. Coach made me a SF went i never touched the ball then whole game. "Coach told me to be more aggressive" i got mad as shit i took the ball kicked into the empty stands and left. I realized i was never gonna play in the nba

I had doubts in 8th grade when I tore my knee up the first time. Then in 9th grade tore the same knee up worse. That's when the dream officially died.
What sucks is in 2 weeks having the same knee operated on for the 3rd time. :bang

Well, if Trajan Langdon and JJ Barea made it into The League, I've still got a shot.

I had a couple of college scouts that would stay and watch me after they came to see a senior at my school. I was 14 and thought I was badass because I out rebounded the 6'6 6'7 guys and I could dunk. I really thought I was going to end up at UT then two highschools and two tore up knees later I figured it wasn't going to happen.

16...I had always hoped for a Dana Barros, Jeff Hornacek type of role on some team but then I realized my dribble was way too high.

That's something pretty simple to correct if that's ALL thats keeping you from the NBA :lol

By dribble he meant brain and by too high he meant he's a meth head. So no it's not that simple.

For me, the dream of the NFL was great, so the NBA dream really never happened so I would say I never had that dream...doesn't mean I still don't have an great passion for the game though.

Basketball was just something to pass the time away between football and baseball seasons. Never even considered a NBA career.

I fully intend to buy my own team someday and insert myself into the starting lineup.
If you thought Mark Cuban was a little too involved in the games you haven't seen 'nuthin yet.

Good topic. But I never thought I would. My friend, who is 25, came to the epiphany that he was not going to have a shot at the NBA when he was older than most of the draft picks 2 years ago.

Too bad, if you had made the Clippers, the next step would have been the NBA.

When I was born
I turn 41 later this month, am ~25 lbs overweight; pulled a hammy running to first base playing softball last spring.
I'll give up the dream any day now.
