Yeah his contract is just pro-rated for the number of games left in the season when they signed him. It was a good signing -- no real risk at all.

??? 75K doesn't seem like enough, even at vet min, for 9 games. I thought vet min was like $1M. If you divide that by 82, it yields a per game salary of 12195.12, which, when multiplied by 9 games left, would be $109756.

It'll be interesting to see if he can shoot as well as he did in his first game anytime soon. As a shooter who has lately taken months off at a time, I can tell you that the best shooting day you have when you return is the first day. But then after that, you hit a wall until you truly get back into bball shape.

Kerr alluded to this as well last night.

in the NBA you get paid for the season, that way actuall contracts are honest

I wonder if $75,000 refers to the Spurs' share of the deal. The league should be paying half of Robinson's salary.

Every team wants to make the the playoffs "pour l'honneur", but what is the financial interest per player to make the playoffs, to advance:
through rounds 1, 2,
Conf champs,
NBA champs?

is it pro-rata per contracted season salary? some slice of TV playoff contracts?

The playoffs are considered part of the season for salary purposes. However, when fractional salaries are determined, they use 1/82 per game, since not all teams make the playoffs. There are bonuses for making it out of the various rounds, but IIRC, a share for the Spurs in '99 was about 250K. Not much for a superstar, but meaningful for a back bencher. The team gets together and votes who gets a half share or whole share, both coaches and players. I would imagine players like Malik, Nazr, and Sato would be considered for half shares. GRob would depend on if, or how he performed in the playoffs. Someone like TMass, who walked when he was told he was left off of Sacto's post season roster last year may get nothing.
