This is in two parts, and it's long so I'm just linking it.
For anyone that may not know about Russell it's got some great history and some great quotes.
To one of the greats that paved the way. :toast

Russell is a Lakers hater and means us not well. He's a liar as well and a dishonest sort. He'd invite Wilt over to his home when the Finals would roll around with the express intent to "seduce" Wilt: get his guard down, soften him up, damn him with faint praise, be his buddy...then the next day (game day at Boston Garden) they'd call him everything but a black man, take his pants down, destroy him...in the name of "gamesmanship"...and the asshole would go right back over there the next time for more of this treatment.
Russell also took the opportunity when Daddy & Kobe were in the midst of their blood feud (Daddy was in Miami) to approach O'Neal with the idea for Daddy to approach Kobe (live on the court during warmups) and bury the proverbial hatchet. It was a slap at all Lakers Fandom and a way for Russell to piss in our collective Cheerios via O'Neal.
I hate that sneaky bastard and I always will.

I feel the same exact way about that sneaky cock sucker. Did you see the disgust on his face having to stand right there in the middle of the Lakers circle jerk and hand Kobe the MVP trophy that was named after him. He barely fucking acknowledged Kobe. I'm glad Bill was put in that situation. I bet he wont be back next year to give it to Kobe again.
Precisely, Luva. The contempt on Russell's face was embarrassing. He's a rat bastard.

I don't remember his face from the post-finals ceremony, but I do know something about his feelings on the Lakers. He certainly had some animosity towards them being rivals, but in the conversation Russel had with Tim Duncan a few years ago he said something along the lines of this:
"When I was young, before I was in the league, the great George Mikan came to watch me play once and talked to me afterwards. He told me "You should come play for the Lakers," and because of that I always kind of wished I could have."
