Would you guys be willing to let go of manu if wade opts out next year and spurs provide an accepted offer? Wade wants to be on a winning team.

Blair, duncan, jefferson, wade, parker is pretty damn dominate.

I dont know what the bench will look like but Ill let the bosses worry about that.

Spurs will have about 23 million off the books next year. Enough to offer Wade a competitive contract, if wade were to opt out of his final year

pfff... how on earth do you think we could get wade by just letting go of Manu??

It'd take a lot more than just Manu and I don't think they would even want him. They could get better from some other team.

One things for sure , the average number of sex parties in SA would triple

well wade is defintley a mavs killer

so that lineup would be crazy

but i could happen and we can wait until 2011 to get a big man to replace tim

As a fantasy i could see it happening but not in real life........... besides SPURS have already made it clear that they are not going after any big names next summer. They went ahead and did it this year..

I hate Wade, would never want to see him on the Spurs

The only wishful thinking on Wade I've seen involves a sign-and-trade next year for Richard Jefferson + cap filler. Miami would have basically no reason to make that trade; they'd be better off letting Wade walk and not having to pay that year of RJ's salary.

The Spurs would have to sweeten the deal considerably (picks + Mahinmi + Hill + Splitter, at least), and Wade would have to convince the Heat that he doesn't want to return, for this to have any chance. In other words, it won't happen. Fun speculation, but I'd estimate the chances at around 0.01%.

I think Karl Malone and a dead Dennis Johnson would be a better fit.

I think this could happen if for Pop and R.C. and also then under the salary tax plus the lineup:

timvp, you are the best! :tu :lol :hat

Then imagine when defense once Duncan turns 25 elbow ligaments.

Dwyane Wade!

Spurs opted out of the 2010 sweepstakes (LeBron, Wade, etc.) when they traded for RJ. Letting go of Ginobili at this point would be meaningless, which is why I expect them to lock him up for another couple years beyond 2010.

Be happy the Spurs were aggressive in this buyer's market and significantly improved their team and their chances of hoisting up a couple championship banners over the next few seasons.

I don't know about that unless Manu accepts a lot less of a contract and says that he's going to retire from his NT in which he hasn't given up on yet.

what other SGs are going to be free agents next summer?

I would like us to replace Mason with someone younger and better if possible

also, even with 23 mil less in team salary, we will still be over the cap to start the summer next year.

we'll have about 57 mil in salary, the cap will probably go down again, and I think Manu will still count 10 mil against the cap until he signs

If we lose $23 million, most, if not all of that will go to Wade. There won't be a bench to speak of.

Even if the Spurs didn't resign Manu, they'd still be way over the cap, and with several roster spots to fill. So for the Spurs to be far enough under the cap in an amount similar to that which Wade is sure to command, they'd likely have to not only lose Manu and Mason to free agency, but dump Tim along the way. In that case, the cure would clearly be much worse than the disease.

If that was an actual option, Manu should get his stuff packed.

spurs would have to convince heat to take jefferson in a sign and trade

The only way the Spurs are under the cap next summer is if Jefferson opts out. If he does then the Spurs could realistically sign Wade then use Jeffersons and Manu's bird rights to resign those two as well. It isn't impossible.

nope, still pretty impossible. jefferson and manu would both have a cap hold that we would have to renounce to get said cap space. and then we would no longer have their bird rights.

Let's get Lebron too!

The FO isn't gonna go after Wade cause he's a "Mavs killer" they could less about the Mavs. They are focused on the Lakers and knocking them off the top. Wade is great but just don't see wanting to leave Miami to come to SA. Mavs will not always be who we face in the playoffs and right now you don't get to the finals without going through the Lakers period.

assuming the spurs keep hill, mahinmi and hairston, and jefferson opts out, the spurs are on the books for just a shade over 41 mil. lets assume a cap of 55 mil (cap should drop a bit next year too). now we add in the min roster holds (about 500k each), and we now have about 44 mil on the books.

now we figure in jeffersons and manus cap hold. for jefferson, its the max salary available for a player with 8 years experience: $16,224,600. for manu, its 150% of his previous years salary, or just a shade over $16 mil.

so even if we were to renounce just one, we still have zero cap space to sign anyone. and even if we renounce both, we dont have enough to tender a max contract offer, which is what its going to take to convince any of the top shelf free agents to change teams.

Wade will likely take less than a max contract in 2010.

and id say that its highly unlikely he accepts anything less. we are going to have to agree to disagree.

I'm not even sure a package of TP+Manu will bring Wade to SA

The interesting guy is T-mac. Tons of talent, getting old and really wants to shake that loser tag... I don't expect anyone to offer more than the MLE, due to his injury issues. Depending on his recovery from surgery, if I was running the FO I would be taking a peak. Him as a 20 minute a night guy Finley/Barry type guy would be absolutely huge
