The Spurs/Mavs game last night offered up this post-game quote from rookie Devin Harris after Dallas got their first win in four tries this season:

Devin Harris, on the game - "We definitely wanted to get that hump off our back." :bang

Now, this "mixed metaphor" could probably work if Dallas thought of themselves as the Hunchback of Notre Dame but somehow, I don't think that's how they pictured themselves.

Our friends in Slovenia, France, New Zealand, Australia etc. must have an extra level of frustration in understanding just what is being said by some of our US-born athletes.

What (Spurs or sports-related) mixed metaphors drive you crazy or have made you go, Hmmm???

I quote the great Igor (pronounced "EYE-gore"):

"What hump?"

I'm not sure who said this one but it's a classic:

"We're cooking on all cylinders, now!"

Here's another one that will remain annonymous until I remember who said it:
"We may need to iron the bugs out first." :smokin

One of the more common ones I hear:
"It's going to be a hard road to hoe."

(instead of "row" to hoe - as in turning the soil for rows of corn, soybeans, etc.)

Kori/LJ, feel free to move to the appropriate Forum, if this isn't the place. The anchor post was Spurs-related but it could have gone to the Club, too, I suppose.
