We all know the top 5 teams are the Spurs, Lakers, Cavs, Celtics, and Magic....so who is the dark horse that can win it all?

I would say Portland. You know every year there is a fluke. Just like the Arizona Cardinals in the Super Bowl. The Magic in the NBA Finals. And the Phillies in the World Series. They didnt win it, except Philly, but no one expected those teams to be there. This year wont be any different. There will be a suprise team in the mix.

To win it all??? There's no way any other team other than those 5 win it all.

There's a lot of teams that can do better than expected...

Hawks
Bobcats
Warriors

I would say in the MLB that would have been the Tampa Bay Rays.

New Orleans could suprise if they are healthy in the second half of the season.

I would say Portland.

I like this team too but let's see them get past the first round (second round is a far stretch) and then I'll consider it. I agree with whoever said it, any "dark horse" team is going to run into a better team once the finals roll around.

I think the rise of Rose, and the return of Deng will more than make up for the Gordon loss. I say da' Bulls...

My dark horse to make the playoffs: OKC Thunder. A solidly built, talented team that is hard not to root for with a kid like Durant leading the charge.

I don't think there really are any dark horses coming into this season with title contenders growing a bit in number this year. In years past, only a team or two per conference as pegged as championship contenders.

With the cast of the Lakers, Spurs, Celtics, Cavaliers, Magic and even the retooled Mavs if they get the right matchups can be considered as contenders. (Not in any order)

Portland and Utah will be hounding the Western teams throughout this season barring any injuries to key guys, but I think they will fall short.

For the East, I'm looking at ATL as a quiet contender. They have vast scoring options, they just really need to pull themselves together on defense. Farthest I see them though is ECF just because I think they can pull a fast one of the Celts.

Denver in the West. Won't surprise anyone this year but have a solid team and the altitude at home going for them

The top contenders are so stacked now though that I can't see there being a dark horse winning it all.

agree...basketball is not a spot of many upsets....include 7game series' and its even worse...include having to go through at least 2 of those contendes, probaly 3, and there is no chance!

as for teams, that could upset at least one of those teams: denver in the west and the wizards in the east

as for teams, that could make the playoffs, which nobody could see before: suns in the west ;) and bobcats in the east
