I like Cornell better. I think he has more unique vocals with a greater range.

Have there ever been two bigger disappointments in the music industry? Weiland with his drugs and Cornell with his longing to be the male version of Nelly Furtado.

Cornell has been pretty useless since "Down on the Upside"... he just doesn't have the voice anymore. Weiland is more of a performer than a real vocal talent. They both owe a great deal to the musicians behind them.

I agree Soundgarden needs to get back together. His solo stuff SUUUUUUCKED and Audioslave was crap too.

Maybe they can get Timbaland to produce.

Riiight. Because Weiland is the first and last artist to have addiction issues, thanks ever so much for showing us the light. And tell us again how his addiction makes his music worse? For what it's worth, he's supposidly been sober since 02. It's also funny that you made the Cornell/Furtado analogy because that's exactly who he reminds me of. :rolleyes
You have a real talent there, Mr.Music critic.

Cornell, not even close.
Cornell is the best rock singer of his generation, period. I'd kill to be able to sing like him. Whiskey sour with range. Amazing talent.

Cornell
Cornell is the greater 'talent.'
I prefer weiland's voice myself, though

Is this even a question. While I have always loved Weiland... he only has an ounce of the talent that Cornell has. No competition.

Cornell is the better vocalist. I thought his first solo single "She can't change me" from Euphoria Morning was a pretty damn good song, still on my mp3 player, but its the only song from his first solo album I heard. And I heard a solo song from his album a year or so ago on those music only channels in the 900's on cable and it sounded pretty cool.
But he's still a big piece of shit egomaniac. It's not like his vocals made Soundgarden anyways....i think alot of it was studio magic on the CD.
For instance:
Listen to "Pretty Noose" from DOTU. He sounds great. Then flashback to SNL, while promoting the album, they performed "Pretty Noose" and Cornell made the entire band sound like Pip farting on a snare drum.

Never go by an SNL performance to judge an act's live potential. SNL has a studio with horrible acoustics. Everyone sounds like shit on SNL.

Cornell. He had success with both Soundgarden and Audioslave. For the record, Kings of Leon sounded really good on SNL. Weiland had STP and Velvet Revolver. STP was pretty good and successful but Velvet Revolver isn't on the same level with Audioslave.

Weiland, with no doubt. But it all depends on your taste. Still get pumped when I hear,
I am smellin' like the rose
that somebody gave me on
my birthday deathbed
I am smellin' like the rose
that somebody gave me
'cause I'm dead & bloated

even with the bar set low he sounded like crap
try to find a video of the performance
he wasn't even able to hit the high notes properly
the rest of the song sounded adequate

I guess I don't understand what you're saying here. Are you implying that his addiction made his music career better? And the Furtado analogy goes to their choice in producer in an attempt to get played on top 40, only with Nelly it worked. You would think that with the internet at your disposal, you would've figured that one out.

Well Im going to be biased because Soundgarden was one of my favorite bands, if not my favorite growing up. From Temple of the Dog to early soundgarden (louder than love, badmotorfinger) to one of the best in Superunknown, he has been a beast. And I agree his solo albums have been dissapointing but to say the first audioslave cd is not legit is a crime-what you are, like a stone, i am the highway, and SHADOW of the SUN. I think he's still got some good shit left in him-he's just about experimenting now-and unfortunately i dont think soundgarden will come back because he's said numerous times that there's really no reason. He feels they accomplished everything they could have and he wants to leave that era where it is and he (a little cocky) feels that that soundgarden stage was a great moment in rock history (i agree tho). Last i heard Kim thayil ran a cinnabon in Seattle somehwere, ROFL.
What I'd like to see is Eddie and Chris get back together and do another Temple of the Dog album---id probably jizz my pants. As for the poll this would be more fair of a poll if it was EV vs CC, because I've had numerous debates about that and really it usually is about half and half, maybe a little more cornell...but very close. Not to knock SW because I love STPs first 3 or so albums. I just can't put him into cornells level.
