Your year? Let's see...

Jason Terry Speaks Confidently And Frankly About Dallas' Next Move
By Mike Fisher -- DB.com

“This is going to be our year!’’ Jason Terry tells me, and I am only slightly moved. After all, doesn’t the always ebullient Jet think every year is going to be our year? I’m sure that he’s sincerely believed that it’s been his year since 1977, when he emerged from the womb and responded to the doctor’s butt tap not with a newborn’s cry but with the words, “Doc, this is going to be our year!’’
But then Jet and I start discussing the details of why he believes the 2009 Dallas Mavericks might be something special. And something becomes clear: While only time will tell if he’s correct, his belief isn’t just based on his by-rote confidence but also by his analysis of the Mavs roster – and what he terms “one or one-and-a-half’’ remaining needs.
“Believe what I’m telling you,’’ Terry says. “I like our team, the way we’ve put this team together. We’re one piece or maybe one-and-half pieces away.’’
Jet, speaking to me at his Jason Terry Foundation kids basketball camp in Plano (I’ll have the Video Visit up in a bit) is very specific in his thoughts on the Mavs’ personnel. We talked about veteran teammates Dirk, Josh and Kidd, and about newcomers Shawn Marion and Drew Gooden, and of course, about Terry himself.
“My No. 1 goal is to win a championship,’’ says Terry, who adds that his No. 2 goal is to be a back-to-back winner of the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Award.
And in terms of the personnel needed to reach goal No. 1, Terry is willing to pinpoint what he thinks is the goal on the horizon.
“Now we’re looking for an inside defender, a guy who is 7-0, or 6-10, who can cover 7-footers,’’ he says. “We’re still maybe one or one-and-a-half or two pieces away …’’
Not very often do you hear a player be so precise and so vocal when it comes to his team’s personnel department. Terry’s remarks don’t necessarily demonstrate an awareness of “The Buck Shot’’ and other trade chips in Dallas’ possession. And of course, wanting to add “a piece or two’’ isn’t as easy as it sounds. But it does suggest, I think, a self-awareness on the part of the organization. … and if wanting to accomplish something was enough, well, with Terry in charge, it would certainly get done.
“We’re gonna knock some people around this year!’ Jet says, and by the time he’s finished with his one-on-one pep rally, you can’t help but be more than slightly moved.

Dallas still needs at least one more quality player for the rotation, so I agree. But even then, that merely gives us a chance at winning a series against the Lakers. Unless a blockbuster trade takes place, we'd be underdogs regardless.

I agree with JET that I would feel a lot better if we could get one more quality interior defender. They didn't think Diop or Hollins was worth what they were paying for them. I don't know what Greg Buckner's contract will get them.

Scola is not a better rebounder than Dirk. Dirk spends the majority of his time on the perimeter, and can't guard anybody good down low, yet is still grabbing double digit rebounds or close every night. He's even capable of monster 15+ board games.

Brooks < Kidd - Aaron is a better scorer, but Kidd is better at everything else.
T-Mac = Howard - If Tracy gets back, like he said, then he's better than Josh
Ariza < Marion - Right now it's still like that. But I gues Trevor will put up better numbers this year.
Scola < Dirk
Andersen = Dampier - We really don't know what will David do. He's still unproven.

Also, the Mavs bench is better.

T-Mac for 15 games isn't as good as Josh for 60 games.

Sorry Rocket fans, but your team is going to suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. Trevor Ariza was an okay 3 point shooter who averaged like 8 points a game all year. And now you're depending on him being your #1 option for most of the season while T-Mac is hurt?

I foresee an Austin Croshere-like fall for Trevor Ariza. He got hot at the most opportune of times for a couple months, turned that into a nice payday, and will promptly go back to sucking for the rest of his career.

They are right: The Mavs are 1 piece away: A real presence down low. The problem is, just about every team needs another one of those. And yes, the Dwight Howard comment is not that far off the mark: D-How + Dirk and that guard rotation with Carlisle at the helm would be the favorites to win the title.

Knowing where I'm going to get buried in proves two things on you: First, you are actually smarter than your smart dog. Second, your spirit is somewhat mutilated when you waste your time on a sad shitty guy away from a deserted land, instead of doing something meaningful in your promising life time.
You have confessed you are a sad shitty guy. :toast

Whatever.
Whatever words you squeeze out of your creepy mouth, the truth can never be screwed, and the truth is you are an immigrant and will eternally be what you are even after you get buried into dust or cremated into ashes.

United States was declared independent on July 4, 1776.

Great knowledge of history. Maybe you should tell that to a homeless man and even he would be surprised.:lmao

Sure, before becoming a US citizen you had got through some exams, which presumably included such kind of questions. The country you immigrated from has long been pretty infamous for creating dumbasses who have no skill but taking exams.

I'm always reluctant to talk to immigrants, because my ass always got laughed off every time i heard them speaking engrish, and I had to haste to hospital for a surgery to get my ass pasted back to my thigh.

The government of your country was founded in 1912, right?

I'm glad to bring you such fun, and I've got a lot of fun as well when I heard you can laugh by your ass, that's a special skill, which is definitely much better than taking useless exams.

I'm also reluctant to tell you a useless thing that Repubilc of China was founded on Oct. 1, 1949.

Son you just admitted to be an immigrant. :lol I was just asking if the government of YOUR country was founded in 1912, who asked you anything about that country? Being born in that country can be a perfect excuse for being a noob though. :lol

BTW I once heard a country named china and the government of it was established in 1912 as far as I know.

Established in 1912, the Republic of China, until being replaced by the People's Republic of China in 1971.

sorry for double quoting your blunt post but, don't you think it's kind of a grammar error to use "think" instead of "thinking", at least it's not the way we use it. Though the word "idiot" pretty well explained the errors you made.

You should feel happy for either being alive from 30 thousand people who were shot per year in your country or getting a quote and being back from a lost way you've vigorously steeped in.:lol

Let us not get into nationalist chest bumping, in particular if it involves murder and human-rights abuse in our respective countries, the Chinese (outside of being highly indoctrinated) should know this. I believe that we both have short comings that are easily exploited (I.E., your insecure post is not a valid form of shit-talk). Please take that absolute nonsense to the political forum, and be owned by all means.
