Those of us on the Nets' mailing list just received this in our inbox.

I am curious what would happen if every Spurs fan (or whatever your favorite team might be) were sent this promotion.
I realize the Spurs do not need promotions. I really just want to gauge what the proper amount of outrage should be (if any) and what fans of other organizations think about this.

What's outrageous about it?

First, the Spurs do promotions similar to this, except... I can't imagine them pimping other teams' jerseys. Am I reading taht correctly? is that what you're referring to? Because that's kind of weird.

You can turn the jerseys inside out so they have a player on the other team on the outside.
So the equivalent would be if the Spurs gave out Ginobili jerseys that reverse and Kobe's Lakers jersey were on the other side.

Yeah, I don't think they'd ever do that here.

That's hilarious. I would be pissed if my team did that though. Not that they ever would. Sounds like a front runners dream.

Are those jerseys actually meant to appeal to anyone?

People with bi-polar disorder.
You could play one-on-one by yourself.

So you would be more likely to buy Spurs season tickets if they gave you a Duncan jersey with a Dirk jersey on the other side?

And since when are the majority of Lakers fans NOT a bunch of front running bitches?

I think it's a great promotion.
I'm a Lakers fan but having a LeBron/Dwight/Wade jersey would be cool.
I'd burn the shit out of that Celtics #5 one though...and that would a cool use for that jersey too.

Very interesting. It's so a fairweather Nets fan can wear his favorite visiting team's Jersey to Izod, and then reverse it before going in the parking lot to the Nets player so as to not be beaten by more passionate drunk Jersey guys. In all honesty, those Jerseys might be worth picking up sheerly for the 'what the fuck?', quality. I would think that because of how silly it is, in a few years they would be an ironic-nostalgia collector's cream dream. Personally my belief is that if they made a Duncan/Dirk Jersey it would be like crossing the streams, it might rip all time and space apart, or at least a few lakes/rivers might run with blood and begin to boil.

The economy is really bad and the NBA is not unaffected by that. Just trying to put butts in the seats, that's all.

Nobody's going to buy tickets that come with five Nets jerseys, not even Nets fans. Having the reversible Nets jersey inside is just their way of saving face, as opposed to selling 5 opponents' jerseys straight up.

Those are some ugly-ass jerseys, but of course any lottery team is going to have to market the competition. What else would they say? Come watch Devin Harris and Brook Lopez get their teeth kicked in because we're slashing costs and are deeply in the red?

When have the Lakers ever not had a shit load of fans? Go ahead I'm waiting... On the other hand we know there were SOOOOOO many Spurfans before 1999 right? They were just everywhere. :rolleyes

Cool, so the consensus is that if the Spurs, Lakers or Mavs are ever rebuilding it would be cool with you for management to offer jerseys of other teams as incentives in ticket packages.
As fans you will buy these because the Spurs are terrible and the way to get Spurs fans to come to the arena is not to make the Spurs better but to hope fans will be happy cheering for the other team.
And it's OK with you that your young, developing players can have their jerseys turned inside out to feature a much better player.

The Spurs should do this, think of the possbilities!:
Matt Bonner on one side, Luis Scola on the other
Nazr Mohammad on one side, David Lee on the other
A blank jersey on one side, Josh Howard on the other

I think the Spurs would do some sort of "Spurs Legends" or "Rafters" series before they marketed their opponents' jerseys. Gervin, Robinson, Duncan, Bowen, etc. (in the event they suck during their rebuilding phase).
If I were a fan of your team, I would be a little disgusted with them for doing that. They probably had some marketing genius who was not actually a fan of the team come up with this idea, and he didn't factor in a true Nets fan's mindset.

I THINK...Got a GREEN CARD? PEDRO?
The worst three words you and your familia dont wanna hear...GOT A GREEN CARD?
Still no American gives a shit about the green card you have got, though it cost you tons of efforts to get that small piece of green card which makes it possible for you to parasitize in US legally. My primary suggestion to immigrants is, don't immigrate to US until you have got some basic skills in using this language, if you don't want to live in US like a dumb ass. Sometimes my dog's barks even make more sense than the immigrants' words do.

I think a Ginobili Spurs/Argentina, TP Spurs/France, TD Spurs/USA or Virgin Islands or Wake, Admiral Spurs/Navy Package would be good.
My main question is, Why are the Clippers one of the top 10 Games? I know there's some talent on that team and the #1 pick, but Why are they one of the 10. The other teams are contenders, Quasi contenders, the Heat(Wade makes sense) and the Knicks, why are the Clippers in that group?
Also, Great if you have both Lopez & Howard on a fantasy team

But aren't you one of the guys who was threatening to turn in his Spurs fandom if they had signed the Mailman in 04? :stirpot
