I hear how bad everything is lately, but it seems everyone I know, and even people I don't really know on message boards I frequent seems to be buying new cars, so for this informal poll I thought I'd ask ST:

Have you bought a new (to you) vehicle in the past six months (more or less)?

Yes, though mine was prompted by an accident and was mostly covered by the other driver's insurance.

No and I won't be buying one anytime soon.

Yes...mostly because my car was having chronic trasmission problems that I was not willing to pay for after the warranty went out. They gave me a good trade in plus I got my new(slightly used) car at about 4K below blue book.

I will probably never buy a brand new car again. It is much smarter to get a year old used one that has low mileage. You can save a ton of cash and it's easier to talk a dealership down on a used car.

^Speaking of smarter. Has anybody here bought a smart car?

For the record my vehicle was used (So new to me with 39K miles) and I got it for about 4K under book as well.

LOL, another good question, I wonder how many of us bought more fuel efficient vehicles, especially in light of the Cash For Clunkers program.

My vehicle actually gets worse MPG than my previous one.
