Sony announces 120GB 'PS3 Slim', debuts at $299

You can say the same thing for the ps3, pretty much anything you get is going to be multiplat, the age of the third party exclusive is over. It died when MS paid rockstar 50 million for exclusive dlc and no one bought it.

both systems have good first party exclusives coming up, Mass Effect 2, Left 4 Dead, God of War , Uncharted 2, the list can go on for both sides


Sony isnt going after xbox users with the price drop, they are going after people who haven't bought a next gen system yet. I think you failed to realize that before your post.

No. people who understood what Sony was doing already knew there was no BC, the fact is there is a development team working on a solely software emulation of the PS2 on the PS3, if and when they do, it will be involvedin a firmware update that will be free for all non BC ps3 dating back to the 20gb launch model. And why free, because then then can add ps3 classics onto the Playstation store and start charing 10-15 bucks a pop but digital DL's of games, thats where the will make up for all the r&d loses 10 times over.

That it's not backwards compatible is retarded. PS3 would likely have been my console of choice no matter what, since God of War and Ratchet & Clank are two of my favorite franchises, but I'm glad I got the opportunity to buy a relative's 60G launch console with full compatibility.

I suppose Sony is banking on the fact that everyone buying a PS3 likely has a PS2 already, but if I didn't already have game loyalties the decision to remove backwards compatibility from newer models (when it existed at launch) would probably be enough to push me towards a 360. Just asinine.

What's a better deal? Getting an 80 GB fat one with a game and a blu ray movie or getting the 120 GB PS3 Slim with no game or blu ray movie? They're both $299. LOL. I used to work for a major video game producer and we had to work in a room with 30 of the those going at once. There was probably a 15-20 degree difference between being in the PS3 room and out of it.

I hardly play my PS2 right now so I figure it wouldn't be that much of a loss. I would be getting more off the PS3 Slim if I trade in my PS2 than if I bought it at my work. I would only get 10 percent off which comes to about 30 dollars off. Besides, the loss of the PS2 compatibility isn't that bad. PS3 Slim can play PS1 games.
