Tiger quickly erases DiMarco's leadESPN.com news services

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- All it took was 26 minutes for the lead that Chris DiMarco spent three days building at The Masters to be completely erased.

Starting on the 10th hole trailing by four strokes, Tiger Woods hit a solid approach to the green and made his birdie putt to cut the lead to three. DiMarco pushed his second shot on that same hole way right, eventually taking an unplayable lie and making double bogey on the hole.

Down one on the 11th hole, Woods made a lengthy birdie putt to tie DiMarco at 11 under.

Woods then birdied the par-3 12th hole, his sixth consecutive birdie dating back to yesterday. That moved him to 12 under and gave him a one-stroke lead overall.

But Tiger wasn't done there. He has just made birdie on the par-5 13th hole, his seventh in a row. That ties the record set by Steve Pate in 1999 for most consecutive birdies in The Masters.

The streak ended on 14, as Woods three-putted for bogey to fall back to 12 under.

Woods wound up shooting a 65 for his third round, following his second-round 66. He leads by three over DiMarco, who struggled to a back-nine 41 en route to a 74.

Thomas Bjorn remains at 7 under, five behind the Woods.

Defending champion Phil Mickelson shot 69 to move to 5 under and 2000 Masters winner Vijay Singh is at 4 under.

Trevor Immelman equaled the best round of the day, shooting 65.

Unbelievable :elephant

Sequ, I think he will play better in today's round, but still any human being except maybe Vijay would have melted when he saw Tiger birdie 7 holes in a row right in front of you.

The key was that Tiger got to pick up his ball after his tee shot on 10 to go in for the night.

That ball had a ton of mud on it right where his clubface would have hit the ball. He would not have made that birdie with that mud on the ball yesterday, and DiMarco would probably not have double bogied the 10th at that point.

It looks like this was fate

I mean, after he putted the ball into the water in rd 1 on 13 , then hit the flag with his 2nd shot on 14 the next hole which made the ball bounce into the sand trap for another bogie, Tiger just got meaner and more focused....that was the start of the end for DiMarco

Jim,

Exactly, Dimarco saw Tiger charging and melted down like a bitch.

Dimarco has no game, he needs to stick to winning the backwoods open.

I will bet you that DiMarco plays well today and at least challenges Tiger

He is better than you give him credit for.

If you will remember, DiMarco is the only American that played well and won his matches in the last Ryder Cup...he had the biggest cajones of all the USA team.

I will bet that DiMarco stays within 4 strokes....deal?

A lunch the next time we play golf, ok?

How about those two putts that DiMarco made for pars on 17 and 18?

Every year, I think the Masters gets better than the previous Masters...this is one of the best sports spectacle's to watch in the world...it never lets us down.

bring a step ladder.

:)

Hey, I will go with you if you go...for attending the Masters for a golfer is like going to Mecca for the Muslims....it is what all real golfers must do.

I told you that DiMarco had huge stones.

The guy has icewater in his veins...he made so many great great iron shots today but could not get a few short putts to drop.

Tiger is easily the best to ever lace up the spikes no question.

I like Chris Dimarco, always have for the past few years when he made a resurgence with the crab claw putting grip.

Really cool guy and Jim is right, he earned my respect by being the only guy that gave a shit in last year's Ryder Cup.
