SAN ANTONIO – Spurs Sports & Entertainment will host a career fair on Saturday, August 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the Silver Stars 2 p.m. game vs. the Detroit Shock at the AT&T Center. Professionals from Spurs Sports & Entertainment’s franchise teams (Spurs, Rampage and Silver Stars), the AT&T Center and other professional organizations will come together to provide a unique opportunity for job seeking individuals. Organizations slated to participate include the San Antonio Spurs (NBA), San Antonio Rampage (AHL), San Antonio Silver Stars (WNBA), Houston Rockets (NBA) Alamo Community Colleges, Argus (Event staffing) and Aramark (Sports & Entertainment). Individuals will be able to submit resumes for fields including; advertising, broadcasting, business, communications, finance/accounting, hospitality, management, marketing, public relations, sales and more.

The Spurs Sports & Entertainment Career Fair will also feature guest speaker Ron ‘Mr. Optimistic’ Graves (http://www.optimisticday.com/), who will speak to the attendees about keeping a positive attitude and good outlook during the job search process.

Pre-registration is $15 through August 28 (http://www.active.com/page/Event_Details.htm?event_id=1770781&assetId=6fe0a523-f3b1-4448-aa7e-565477f8f1ee) and $20 on the day of the event. The first 300 to register will receive two Spurs preseason tickets and when participants pre-register they will receive FREE parking and a voucher for lunch at that afternoon’s Silver Stars vs. Detroit Shock game.

Went to it last year. The lines are long and you have a lot to cover. Realistically do not expect much and I would target the people you are interested in.

Obviously the line for the Spurs booth is the longest. I would hit the other ones first and then worry about the Spurs last, because most of the jobs they talk about are ticket sales and such and those are posted on line.

I ended up getting a job offer from the Toros through this, but he said that was very rare and only a very small percentage get interviews.

It is more for information and FAQ's. It is good to collect business cards and make contacts to use in the future.
