If there's nothing else I learned from camp years ago, it's how to deal with chiggers. Get yourself some clear nail polish and paint over the bite - the little bug under your skin will be suffocated and will die, and then it will come out and you'll stop itching.

LMAO...I just had this awful vision of painting my nutsack with nail polish...I would have to lock myself in the bathroom with a loaded gun and kill myself if anyone walked in on me...:lol

but Jekka is on the right track...you gotta kill the little bastards...Campho Phenique does the same thing...

Isn't there a song about letting Claritin free like there is one about Nelson Mandela? If not, there should be!

Wow! I'll have to look for that next time I'm there. Thanks!

Generic drugs suck, they only have to be 80% as effective. I'll take the extra 20% please.

Shelly: it's the Kirkland (house) brand, and it's called AllerClear. The active ingredient is Loratadine, quantity 10mg.

Manny, I may have misspoken. It's re-branded, not generic. I don't see how it could only be 80% as effective if the quantitiy of the active ingrediant is the same. If it were Loratadine, 8mg, then I would be wary.

Well, I asked my husband about that and he didn't think that was correct.

From the FDA site:

3. Are generic drugs as strong as brand-name drugs?

Yes. FDA requires generic drugs to have the same quality, strength, purity and stability as brand-name drugs.

Thanks Jekka...i read this after i spoke to my ex who also said to use clear nail polish. The itching is 50times better today than it was yesterday.

The stupid pharmacists i spoke to in the area told me the san fernando valley dosnt have a chigger problem and they cant explain how i got them. They told me i had to drive all the way to Ventura County in order to get any sort of that medication...One also told me to use the lice protection...i was like wtf man!?!?!

But i feel mucho better... :)

Thanks again for all of those who either gave me advice on here or in PM's.

You are. The only difference in generic drugs is in appearance and things like the coating on the pills, etc.
