It's in an article about Jamelle Cornley signing with an Ukrainian team :

Cornley also talked with Columbus native and Dnipro alumus Devin Green, who is currently with the San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs do need to find some warm bodies for training camp, so bringing in a guy like Green for that purpose would make some sense. But I can't see the Spurs thinking he's got any kind of a shot of making the final roster.

seems a bit early for the 1st training camp fodder signing, but we know that at some point the Spurs will sign 3 or 4 players just for training camp. (usually they didn't sign them before mid of September though)

Training Camp fodder...

Last summer he was signed by Spurs, and wavied before season started. He's just a training camp player, and he would attend some preseason games.

The roster will be overloaded before new season starts.

IIRC, he wasn't that bad during last year preseason.

Spurs have 4 SG/SF with a guaranteed contract (Mason, Ginobili, Finley and RJ). There are good chances that they carry at least another one for the season. Hairston, Williams and maybe McClinton will be favorites to get a roster spot over Green but who knows. Last year, Spurs went with Farmer instead of Hairston...

The fact that Wikipedia says it doesn't mean much. That bit was added on September 20th, 2008 and never removed.

As far as the original report, I wouldn't be surprised if the reporter didn't just read the Wikipedia article and assume he was still with the Spurs. :lol

Me too. It's time to get this started.

I'd like to know when players have to report to camp as well.

Doesn't training camp start in a few weeks?

Is camp 10 days or a full 2 weeks? The first preseason game is Oct. 6th so I figure they have to start reporting near the end of September. Do players with 2 or less years of experience still have to report 2-3 days earlier than the vets?

In the new McDonald article it says camp starts September 29th.

Wow, that's less than 1 month from now. With football on the way, training camp will come
sooner because we'll be busy with the NFL.
And the best part, it'll start getting less hot in the next few weeks. :tu

Cool, another training camp body. Actually, he didn't do too bad when he was here the first time.

That is, assuming this report is actually true and they didn't just get their info off of Wiki.
