View Full Version : Amare Stoudamire: Suns a threat in the West

"Obviously, we're not the Lakers," he said. "We're not Boston. We're not those elite teams who are over the salary cap, but we are a threat. Anytime you have Steve Nash

(http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/articles/2009/08/25/20090825sunsamare0826.html#)and Amaré Stoudemire on the team, we're a force to be reckoned with."

He just loves to talk. In 5 minutes he will say they are not winners and he is, so it is time to move on.

They will still be dangerous on any given night, but not a real threat.

It'll be interesting to see if they can recover from the Kerr failed chemistry experiment. Not elite, but I hope they do better than the 8th seed. Problem is they need another major piece and have nothing to give up for it.

I can't see them being better then Utah, NO, Dallas, Denver or Portland without a move by the Suns or a major injury to one of those team. I think they'll battle for the 8th seed with OKC, Warriors, maybe Clippers.

Well the Suns missed the playoffs last year and they did not get any better, so how can you hope to move up past the 8th seed? Just getting Amare healthy and having Houston fall off might not be enough.

Lakers
Spurs
Mavs
Hornets
Utah
Portland
Denver

are all better than the Suns. Golden State, Clippers are probably close if not better and if Memphis gets some solid contributions they could be better as well.

As long as Kerr and Sarver are in charge I can't say I disagree. Just with the coaching and mental issues last year I don't see how they can possibly do any worse.

With the Suns luck they finish one game out of the playoffs, and, against all odds their selection is awarded the franchises first #1 overall pick only to see it be used by Oklahoma City on Ed Davis or John Wall.

Based off their latest histroy of bad luck it seems more likely that a couple players will break down, the Suns will finish with a high percentage to win the lottery only to see a young and upcoming thunder team take their top 10 draft pick.

Where as in the past they had capable defenders in Bell, Marion, Kurt Thomas and even Diaw, this years Suns squad has one decent defender and he's going to be 37.

Opposing teams will have a field day on the boards with Amare Stoudemire and Channing Frye as the starting front court. They'll also get burned in transition with Jason Richardson at the 2.

Thats my prediction, anyway.

DUNCANownsKOBE2

The Warriors hype is funny, and the Clippers hype is even funnier. The only way the Suns won't get the 8 seed is if this is the year OKC gels or if Dunleavy is fired. Not like the 8 seed is good or anything, but you gotta give credit where credit is due. They mortgaged the next 5 years in order to get the 8 seed this year. Mission accomplished.

In the last year, Nash has made just as many public comments as Amare has, if not more.

DUNCANownsKOBE2
08-27-2009, 12:55 PM
I'm not saying Amare's constant public statements are ok, I don't like them at all.

But if Nash is allowed to publicly talk about going to New York as much as he has in the last year, publicly vent about how playing with some teammates sucks, and publicly demand a raise after leading a team to the lottery, then Amare should be allowed to say his team is a threat.

No, da, you're wrong. As much as I wanted to hate DUNCAN when I landed here a couple months back I came to the quick realization that the little crapper knows his shit. For one so young, he's wise beyond his years. He sees neath the symbolism to the substance and I'm stunned he's as young as he purports to be.

But, hey, da, it's no surprise:::there is no other fan base as knowledgeable and down to earth as that of Suns Fandom. I said it many moons ago on AZ Central and it's been truthing ever since.

Spurs Fandom is way too proprietary, ignorant of NBA arts & letters and they frankly don't know shit from apple butter, Mavs Fandom is quite splendid all-in-all and I must admit I was surprised at their quality. The Celtics fandom is very meek and mild, and I feel sorry for them.

& that is your belief, DPG. I don't begrudge you that belief.

I devoutly believe that what the Lakers experience (good & bad) is what I experience. They beat Orlando and won the NBA Championship///I won it. They get their clock cleaned by the Celtics in '08///my clock is cleaned. Kobe gets a little Denver mud on his turtle, I get some do-do on mine. I genuinely believe the vast lion's share of NBA players want us to feel that kinship, that connection.

Their not the Mavericks either.

Nash/Amare actually could become a threat, but none of them care about fundamentals, just their run n gun gimmick.

Couldn't make it work when they were younger and the league was less competitive, and they all of a sudden think it'll get them championships now.
