AP source: Obama to give eulogy at Kennedy Mass
By PHILIP ELLIOTT, Associated Press Writer Philip Elliott, Associated Press Writer Wed Aug 26, 8:08 pm ET

OAK BLUFFS, Mass. – A White House official says President Barack Obama will deliver a eulogy at Sen. Edward Kennedy's funeral Mass.

The funeral will take place Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Basilica — commonly known as the Mission Church — in the Mission Hill neighborhood of Boston. Kennedy will be buried the same day at Arlington National Cemetery near his slain brothers.

The White House official spoke with The Associated Press on Martha's Vineyard, the island resort south of Boston where the first family is vacationing. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the Kennedy family had not yet made an announcement.

you know, i hope that this really isn't going to be exploited as the "lookie here. this is why we need healthcare now.........." event. i really pray that it isn't. if that were to happen then i would find it hard to believe anything that the government says from that point on.

Nah...it would be politics as usual even in death.

It's perfectly legitimate and fitting that Kennedy's career-long priority of universal health care be mentioned at his funeral.

If you want an example of illegitimate, venal, deceptive political/economic exploitation of death, dubya and dickhead exploited the 3000 deaths of 9/11 to start a bogus war-for-oil.

So, Obama is gonna say something like:

"If the public option was passed, Sen. Kennedy very well may have survived. Oh wait, he had the best doctors and medical care any American could ask for throughout his entire life and was even spared a prison sentence. Cancer is some serious shit, amirite?"

Honestly, it would be bad form, but I'd be amazed if it didn't happen. I put the odds of it occurring at 90%.

No matter what is said at the ceremonies, it will have no effect on the health insurance battle, certainly none that helps the reform side.

The corps and health care industry are extremely pleased to have lost such relentless, effective, formidable foe.

Don't you guys remember the Wellstone memorial? The dems turned it into a great big political rally - and it backfired big time. I don't think they'll be able to help themselves from doing it at the Kennedy funeral.

And I guess it's only fitting for Obama to give the eulogy since Chris Matthews said Obama is the last remaining Kennedy brother. "Brother" - hmmm, is that racist?

Maybe his burial can qualify for stimulus funds as a "shovel-ready" project...
