Ranger fan hasn't given a shit about the division for a while now.

That's pretty pathetic, the Rangers are four games back and own the Angels head to head this year, why would you not want to go for the division?

Cause its not realistic.

The wildcard is more realistic.

Writer for the Rays at the SP times says it's a done deal. You can "lol" that too but I'm pretty sure it's happening.

Then you posted this two minutes later.

7 games left with the Angels, and only 4 out?

Things might not be lost with the division...

I'm confused where you stand.

The division is not done, and Kazmir doesn't make it done, either. The Rangers have owned the halos this year, and that won't change. Division or Wild Card, the Rangers still have a hell of a shot of getting to the playoffs this year.

We have to find out in the next few weeks if we're serious or not.

Last night's game was frustrating as hell, but we should've never been in that position. The Twins offense did nothing and their picture had mediocre stuff at best and we couldn't do anything on him. A real playoff team would've scored about 7 runs off him.

I never thought i'd see a season where our bats would lead to our downfall

I know..that's what's crazy. If our bats could just lead up to half of their potential, we'd be running away with the division right now. Our pitching is WAY above what we expected, but now it's our bats that won't produce. :(

That's non-waiver trade deadline to you, bucko.

Seriously, most really good players won't clear waivers to be traded after the n-w deadline. There has to be an extenuating circumstance, like a horrible contract or a slow injury recovery.

Contract was the biggest reason if I heard right.

Tampa Bay still isn't making alot of money even though they took it all the way to the series last year.

Correct...and though he's got alot of past accolades, THIS Scott Kazmir has completely abandoned his once-nasty slider and is down about 3-4 ticks on his fastball. For the Rays to pay him like an ace, Scotty K needed to pitch like one...and he hadn't consistently for the last year or so.

Having said that I'm surprised the Rays didn't wait until the off-season to unload him, what with them still being in the playoff hunt. But I guess it makes sense since Kaz had pitched well in his last few starts and the perameters of the deal were in place since before the non-waiver deadline.

The Angels are definitely improving with this move...Kaz is still just 25 years old, has the stuff to miss bats and is under a reasonable contract for the next three years. Should be interesting...

On the Rays side, all the initial talk was about the corner infielder and live-armed lefty...but then Maddon made this statement:

“We’re very excited about the player that we can’t name yet, but also about the other two,” Rays manager Joe Maddon said. “The lefty has a great arm, and Sweeney is one of the best hitters in the minors.”

This makes it seem like the PTBNL is the major piece of this deal and he wouldn't/didn't pass through waivers, so they have to wait until the off-season to name him outright. Names like Brandon Wood (3B/DH) or Jeff Mathis (C) come to mind. That should also be interesting in a month or so...
