Pretty fucking bad IMO. A month that usually isn't supposed to be all that great movie wise (august) saved the summer. I mean up until August my favorite movies of the Summer were Hurt Locker and Terminator Salvation (disclaimer-i know a lot disagree), but that's really it...well I think Star Trek was a good re-boot but wasn't this amazing sci-fi movie that was just mind blowing. Geez, it was good thats it.

August came and saved it by bringing D9 and Inglorious Basterds. Mostly IG, because that movie has such a great script it makes you really forget about all the other shit.

But really imo it's a really shitty Summer as far as I'm concerned. Most movies I was ultimately let down by besides the few surprises of hurt and d9. Hopefully there's some movies coming out this fall-winter that can save the year but I think next year will be much much better.

The Hangover alone made it a great season.

True that DoK, totally forgot about that tho i saw it 3 times, ha. And most of the time i was like the title. Good movie, you guys know thats the 3rd most grossing rated R movie ever, and its right behind matrix reloaded and the passion. Thats for US, but still it was damn good and a lot of people could relate to it which i think is the most important.....i mean ive had vegas experiences which were ridiculous and all grown ups know the "hangover" feeling, ha.

You guys might not know this, but I consider myself a bit of a loner. I tend to think of myself as a one-man wolf pack. But when my sister brought Doug home, I knew he was one of my own. And my wolf pack... it grew by one. So there... there were two of us in the wolf pack... I was alone first in the pack, and then Doug joined in later. And six months ago, when Doug introduced me to you guys, I thought, "Wait a second, could it be?" And now I know for sure, I just added two more guys to my wolf pack. Four of us wolves, running around the desert together, in Las Vegas, looking for strippers and cocaine. So tonight, I make a toast!

It's where I keep all my things. Get a lot of compliments on this. Plus it's not a purse, it's called a satchel. Indiana Jones wears one.

So you've stolen a police cruiser, stolen Mike Tyson's tiger and left a friend on top of a Vegas hotel roof for two days?

I only saw two movies this summer. 500 Days of Summer and Inglourious Basterds. Both were excellent.

I still haven't seen The Hangover but I could basically tell you the entire movie w/out having seen it because the assholes in my office quote it every single day.

I just watched this movie. Can't believe I waited this long.

Both Star Trek and The Hangover were great movies, those alone made summer great.

How can anyone call the Summer movie season over when 9 opens on Wednesday?

I thought it was an overall enjoyable few months, though. Star Trek, Moon, The Hangover, District 9, Inglorious Basterds, and Taking Woodstock were all good.

1. Star Trek
2. Inglourious Basterds
3. D9
4. Harry Potter VI
5. The Hangover

Enjoyed all of these movies greatly. Still waiting to see The Hurt Locker and 500 Days of Summer.

Plus, Where the Wild Things Are comes out in a month and a half, and that could top all of these. We'll see.

Overall, I'd say it was a decent year for movies, but not a great year. Not a 2006-type year (Casino Royale, Borat, The Departed, Pursuit of Happyness, Children of Men, The Prestige, Pan's Labyrinth, Little Miss Sunshine ...not to mention only slightly lesser films like Stranger Than Fiction, Babel, Blood Diamond, The Illusionist, Talladega Nights, Thank You For Smoking, V for Vendetta, Inside Man, 16 Blocks, Jesus Camp, and The Last King of Scotland), but still a decent year.

Haven't seen Inglourious Basterds yet, but thank god for The Hangover...

Terminator Salvation was boring...........
.....the Transformers was full of holes and seriously, neither lead actor can act..
....D9 was predictable and only deep enough for gamers and the dungeon-and-dragons crowd to feign any real interest..

1. Star Trek
2. District 9
3. The Hangover
4. Moon
5. Transformers 2 - It had shitty acting and a craptastic story but the action kicked ass.

Those 5 were probably my top 5 favorite movies of the summer. Personally, I think Star Trek and District 9 should get some Oscar recognition especially for visual effects. Sam Rockwell should get nominated for Moon, too.

Public Enemies was a very mediocre film. Johnny Depp did a decent job, but Bale's character had zero depth. And Mann's direction was god awful.

Yeah, Johnny Depp saved Public Enemies from being a total piece of shit. If he hadn't have been in that movie, it would have been one of the worst movies ever.

Eh, Public Enemies was not bad, but also not good. I hold michael mann to such high standards after Heat and Collateral that everything he's done since-miami vice and public enemies have fallen short of my expectations. Its not that they're bad movies it's that they weren't as good as his last few-and not even close. Heat is probably the best good guy/bad guy/but same guy movie ever. Such a good crime movie. I could watch heat over and over and over. Collateral is just amazing, cruise is perfect as the hitman, and foxx is really good, just another good crime movie.
