chris madrid's is leading with chester's a close second. HOW? WHY? it seems that both are still living on a name they made for themselves YEARS ago when they might have actually been ok. they both SUCK now. i don't know how ppl keep voting these places at the top. for my money, it doesn't get any better than bobby j's.

Not a Fatburger fan? Fatburger and In N Out are 1a) and 1b) for fast-food burgers for me.

I've only ate Fatburger once and I can hardly remember eating it. It was like 2 years ago, though.

The bun is always nice and buttered and never burnt, the burger while thin is still pretty large and cooked evenly through and seasoned perfectly, and dumping a pound of cheddar on it never hurts. I have been eating there (Chris Madrid's) 15 years and the burger still tastes exactly like it did the first time I went, and it is far and away the best burger I have ever had at any price.

There's a place called the Twisted Root Burger Joint (or something similar) in Dallas that makes outstanding burgers. Had their Chipotle, Guac, & Cheddar Burger w/ Fried Onions the other day. Fucking inSANEly good burger.

IM, Red Robins burgers are pretty great, too, especially for a chain...their just pricey. Their Whiskey River BBQ Burger is fantastic, ALBEIT pricey.

Chester's use to be so good. Now, I live in Austin but I go to San Antonio at least once a month. Seems like every other year or so I forget and I go to chesters and I am so dissapointed. It now taste like a bad whataburger.

5 guys is bland, overpriced, underseasoned, and not very good at all. Or maybe it's just the one here in Austin - I would hope the original locations would be better. Their fries aren't very good either. I felt ripped off with a free burger coupon when I went. Same with Mighty Fine. Mooyah, on the other hand, is pretty damn good imo. Burger Tex also makes a tasty burger, as does Top Notch.

Swensons is awesome too, it's a local joint around Akron, actually there are like 6 of them. Their burgers are really good becuase they put the meat in brown sugar and ketchup before they cook them, and I love flaky buns. If anyone is in NE Ohio for any reason I highly recommend it.

Fatburger was OK but I thought it was overpriced.

I also like the burgers at The Cove, but again, a little on the expensive side...

Fatburger's pretty damn expensive, and the quality varies from location to location. I should have said the Fatburger in Westwood (West LA). There's another one one Wilshire Blvd near Santa Monica that isn't nearly as good as the Westwood Fatburger. I have never been to the one in San Antonio.

Biff Buzby's (is that the right spelling/name?) off of Toepperwein @ IH 35N - wonderful, the bun tastes great on it's own...LOL; Longhorn Cafe - great. Both places with many choices. Chris Madrids - greasy, messy but tastes good; for a good tasting fast burger - Freddies.
Those are my SA choices - for now.

To me a good burger is something simple, seasoned with pepper, garlic, and salt, with a grip of cheddar, swiss, or provolone on top, and possibly bacon.

As for Whataburger, it f'ing amazes me people bring that chain up-it's disgusting. I'd rather have carl's jr, burger king, maybe even jack in the crack before whataburger. And someone brought up sonic-EWWW. In n Out is head and shoulders the winner for a fast food chain. Red Robin is a sit down place-and their burgers are very good, i just have it too much, the family always goes to RR. If anyone ever goes to Tucson,AZ get a burger from frog n firkin---unbelievable. There are many trails throughout the park with varying degrees of difficulty but the difficulty of the trail is marked at the trail heads...it really depends more on what parts of the park you want to see....once you get above the tundra you could get lost for days on those trails...or you could stick by the, river, lake and streams and get in some fly fishing...as long as you know bear-safety and stay on the trails, your pretty safe...
