No rings for Stockton, but, plenty of statistics.

2 gold medals.

I think he led Gonzaga to the conference championship as well.

That's nice, but, without an NBA Championship on his ledger he's less than quality.

I just posted statistics with links that proves Stockton is better.

The Hall-of-Fame is not just restricted to the NBA playoffs.

But, the NBA Forum ain't the Hall-of-Fame.

But, the NBA Forum ain't the Hall-of-Fame.

Stockton played in the smallest NBA market. You know the NBA is rigged against small markets, right?

Not only small, but the most remote NBA market, in the middle of a desert next to a salt lake. A land of tumbleweeds and salt fleas.

Chicago, meanwhile, is the 3rd largest city in the USA and most centrally located of the big three.

is this even a real question??? are we talking michael jordan right? stockton isnt even the best PG and not a top 15 player of all time. Stockton was great but dont get things twisted. And this guy above me. When has kobe ever said he was better than jordan or stockton, even though he is wayyyy better than stockton

what a bad comparison... you just set this up to make them look similar but they're not.

yeah, a rigged statistic, the NBA riggs the playoffs in favor of large TV markets. They rigg the draft, they rigg the free agent rules, etc.

John Stockton accounted for more points than anyone in the history of basketball. Rigg that. That's what you're supposed to do in basketball, score points. 60,209 points.

And if you want defense, Stockton stole the ball more than anyone in the history if basketball as well.

Stockton was still a top 10 assists and top 10 steals man in his 19th season at the age of 41.

The quickest NBA players lead the league in assists and steals.

No. You're supposed to win NBA Championships. Stockton failed chronologically to do that his entire career.

I'd like to see Jordan win an NBA title in Utah. It's never been done. It won't happen in 100 years. The NBA is rigged.

You do realize that the NBA didn't call fouls on Jordan, but if someone breathed on Jordan, they got called for a foul.

Yes, I realize that. And I made peace with it years ago. That's what you need to do, Gal, cuz it ain't gonna change. The NBA is not a game, it's a business: with the all the political intrigue, intricacies, foibles, et al & etc that business entails.

I'm fortunate enough to side a team that like Jordan gets hand downs from Stern & NY on at least a semi regular basis. And I take them gladly. Is it right to do it like this? No. But, that's the way it is.

How come the Spurs won 4 then? And came close to winning 2 more?

Not to diminish Stockton's achievements, he certainly is top 3 PG of all-time, but he had these assists, points and steals, but he never brought the most important thing, a championship.

Utah should've at least won one in 94-95 when both stockton and malone were great.

Because you too got hand downs from Stern & NY, and you took them gladly and you never looked back.

Well, Stockton was robbed of one ring in 1998, when Jordan fouled Byron Russell. Jordan was given a gift.

So we are now down to 5 rings for Jordan and 1 for Stockton.

Also, as you can see, Jordan is an A-grade asshole:

Sad display by the NBA's king
On his induction into the Hall of Fame, Michael Jordan shows his petty side, one writer says. He plays 'a bully'

Jordan’s night to remember turns petty

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-jordanhall091209&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

Drob, Tim Duncan, and John Stockton are class acts, not Jordan. That's why I always liked these guys, and watched them on TV. Not Jordan. Pass. He's a total jerk and I saw it from day one. So if others were duped, how does that help society? It doesn't.

Stockton is also hamred by racial discrimination in the NBA. Just because Stockton is white, doesn't mean he's not the quickest player in NBA history.

Stockton was a top 5 assist man in his 19th season at age 41, and he even spent 4 years in college before going pro. Stockton had a 7 to 2 assist turnover ratio in his final season.

Stockton also faces height discrimination. The NBA rules are riggged to favor tall players. Stockton, only 6'1", was still the best guard of all time anyways.

Duncan won rings in a small market.

4 rings (small market) > 6 rings ( big market)

1 ring (Utah) > 5 rings (Chicago)

Didn't Jordan not play for 2-3 years? That's why Stocton numbers are better.

I hate threads like this... Stockton is one of if not my fav player of all time. That being said, you cant compare him to Jordan. That is unfair. I do appreciate the fact that no one has railed on stockton based on what the op is saying. This shouldn't be a discussion. Stockton was great, jordan was the greatest. I had to get that in here b4 gay boys colburn and lakaluva got in here spewing there shit!

OK, let's see who peaked at a higher level.

POINTS ACCOUNTED FOR PER 36 MINUTES

Stockton 1990

44.6 points per 36 minutes

Jordan 1989

43.5 points per 36 minutes

Note that the pace factor was slower in Utah as well.

Stockton > Jordan

For the same reasons you cant compare Stockton to Magic. Its just unfair.

To a lesser extent, yeah. You are still one big bag of shit though. It would be unfair of me to compare all lakers fans to you... Thats like comparing a solid small piece of shit to a shitload of runny diarrhea.

Jordan: 6

They were both great players, but Jordan had 6 more rings so that's what he was trying to say.
