Saw it last night and...it sucked. The story stays flat the entire time. There is no build up to anything. It's literally an hour 1/2 of those things fighting off the machines and trying to rescue each other. And I'm not some douche trying to down it just cause it's animated, I was actually looking forward to it.

Couldn't have said/typed it out better myself. Saw it earlier today. How Elijah Wood continues to get roles is beyond me.
And John C. Riley (sp?) as the other character was even MORE awkward.
What a shitty waste of time.

outside of some of the voice acting choices, I liked it a lot. I guess building up to the big reveal of the Scientist's intentions and what was done with his creation, along with the climactic fight at the end escaped you. The plot may have been a bit thin, but I'm not sure what you were expecting from a movie about puppets fighting monsters.

The fight at the end was anything but climactic considering they were fighting them off the entire movie. The only difference in that fight was that they just happened to destroy it for good.

That's a big fucking difference. Braveheart was fighting the English the entire movie, the only difference was they destroyed him for good in the end. That's how a lot of movies end - with resolution.

You obviously haven't seen 9 yet. Braveheart didn't have fighting the entire movie. As a matter of fact there are only 2 major battle scenes in a 3 hour movie. 9, on the other hand, was about 90 minutes of the puppets running back and forth from their hideout to the robots "factory" fighting them and trying to survive.
I also love how you compare a true story (granted there are plenty of historical inaccuracies, ultimately it all really happened) to a cartoon.
