I have a vendor who's a USC fan and he was going on and on about the Trojans today. I asked him about the Raiders and he just kept his mouth shut.

At least he was honest about why he was pushing USC and not the Raiders though.

IMO he is......Rothlisberger has proven that if given a good enough team, he'll make the right plays at the right time and won't do stupid, selfish shit to get in his team's way. Rivers has tons of talent on his team every year and uses it to put up good numbers.

Bullshit? They call that all the time on the sideline and in the endzone.

Two feet down doesn't mean dick anymore. They added words like "football move" when talking about a WR having possession.

Mike Pereira did a segment on NFLN a year or two ago describing these type of plays.

Replay from reverse angle was shown along with explaination that this year the recievers must come down with not only the feet but must maintain ball control on the landing also. The angle showed the ball move as he hit the ground.

Tough break for Raiders but correct call.

You've got to beat Norvron Turner when he gives you 5 million chances to do so. I have a feeling the db who screwed up on the coverage was Cromarte and not the rookie. Cromarte will die before he'll own up and Norvron will not discipline him one iota.

Condolences.

As Charger far at least we got to see Sproiles in crunch time instead of LT.

His ass was on the ground too. The ball came loose after his two feet AND butt touched the ground.

So basically, in this case, they changed the rule that the ground can cause a fumble.

Horrible call.

Kind of figured this game would end the way the first one did...the better team found a way to win though they didn't play well. That's what's frustrating but then again, that's what separates good teams from bad teams....good teams always find a way to win.

I figured this game would be a blow out but Raiders came to play...too bad moral victories don't count.

Fuck the Chargers.

If the fucking receivers would have helped Jamarcus out when he was actually playing well early, they wouldn't have been in this position. They clearly had trouble getting out of jams on timed routes... something a guy like Crabtree could have changed.

Oh well, for the most part, the Raiders played well, and really outplayed the Chargers all around. It was nice to see, but a real heartbreaker.

They still have more rings than the Chargers or Colts, so fuck the Chargers and Colts. :toast

No, it was in the NFL for a while and then you always heard the refs say "the receiver did not make a football move". Then you'd get the broadcaster say "What is a football move anyways?". It's been gone for at least 2 years, I think.

Again, my main issue is the inconsistency of this call, as this shit happens often, and has many times gotten called in favor of the offense. The NFL has gotten way to inconsistent with their officiating, and is starting to head toward the level of NBA officiating. Maybe they need to get rid of these old refs and get some young blood in there, just like I feel the NBA needs to do.

They'll never be consistent and I disagree about the O getting the benefit of the doubt most of the time.

From what I've seen, they usually favor the better team.

Shockey's 2nd TD yesterday was much more questionable and they upheld the TD call.

Poor raiders/raider fans. What am i saying, I don't feel bad at all, shit im a huge charger fan so fuck you raiders, hahahahhahhahaha. Get owned 12 times in a row-will no doubt be 13 when they go to SD. As for the Chargers, they played pretty awful, but did the important thing which is got the W. If only the damn patriots lost-need homefield in POs. Lots of good teams were rusty this week, chargers included. The D in the first half looked shitty, but played a lot better in the 2nd half besides the horrible play by Hart on the 4th down TD pass-wtf was that hart-they need to bench him-just ridiculous. The o-line needs to play much better.

Raiders D is improved definitely, but holy shit on that last drive they just looked awful. You can't keep giving easy check down passes to sproles, naanee, etc. They didn't adapt well at all, but I was pretty confident rivers would do what was needed to get the TD=and he did. Da raiderzzzzz fail again-the look on some of the fans was pretty priceless after the sproles TD. Go Chargers

Go Chargers

It sucked to see them lose like that, but they had a lot of good things to speak about, ESPECIALLY in the trenches, which is where teams are built and games are won. The easiest way to make your team better is by improving the lines, and the Raiders lines are both CLEARLY improved, which allows other playmakers to do what they do best.

Their offense was kinda inconsistent, but I think it will improve as the season goes on. Their running game was solid, but they kinda got away from it in the second half for some reason. Russell was inconsistent, mainly in the second half as he started rushing throws, but he showed on many occasions, just how gifted he actually is. Experience will be the best thing for him. I liked that he didn't really lose his confidence after some bad throws and drops. He stayed agressive and it paid off when he found Murphy for the long TD pass, as opposed to many young QBs who would have just checked down in that situation. And to do that after getting hurt a few plays earlier. He definitely showed some good leadership skills.

The defense was fantastic all around, until they got into the vanilla zone crap on the last drive. They looked tired after having spend most of the second half on the field. If the offense could have game them a little more rest, they probably would have stuck with the man defense that they were having so much success with, and probably kept the Chargers from scoring that TD. I loved the physicality they played with, the good tackling fundamentals displayed, as well as the smarts, not getting fooled with screen passes, play action, or even the double PA. Their front 4 consistently got good pressure and stopped the run. Seymour is a BEAST. Perhaps being in the 4-3 scheme will help him out.

I was especially pleased with the Raiders only having 6 penalties, 3 of which were on that moron, Cornell Green (Khalif Barnes needs to hurry up and get better). I don't think they have been that disciplined since the Jon Gruden days.

It was definitely a heartbreaker, and would have been great for their confidence if they won, but at the same time, I am eager to see how they respond to this loss, to see if it ignites a fire under them to play harder from now on, and to get revenge when they visit San Diego. Let's see if Cable has truly laid the foundation that Raider fans are hoping for, and put a true winners mentality into this young football team.

How long will it take defensive coordinators to realize that when there is over 2 minutes left in a game and the D has been great in man coverage with a good amount of blitzes, you don't change the defense to a soft prevent zone and give the QB all day to throw? It seems like so many teams have lost games doing this, yet it still happens...and I don't see why. You shouldn't trot your prevent D out there until the only thing that can beat you is a hail mary. Until then, stick to what's been working the entire game.

No clue bro. I guess they just don't wanna risk giving up a big play due to blitzing. Still, even at that point, football is a game of adjustments. The Chargers adjusted by hitting Sproles underneath. The Raiders should have adjusted by having a guy keep a closer watch on him.

They run that risk for the first 57 minutes of the game, until it gets to the point where the other team's only chance is a deep catch, they should stick with what's working and keep rushing Rivers.

I will say, LdT always finds a way to tear through the Pats D. I remember seeing him in a game against the Pats in the Hooters at the RiverCenter Mall .. 03 I think, and I was astonished.

Just checked... it was 02, and he ran for 217 yards... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=220929024

Monstrous.
