My dog is a very friendly dog I got her from the south side of San Antonio she has a few breeds in her like blue healer and Australian cattle dog etc....I always put dog treats in my mouth and she always takes them from me very slowly. She never has bitten another dog or a human. In fact she has a very mean bark but is afraid of possums and raccoons cats etc....

well a friend of mine who i hope doesn't read this gave me some deer meat last week. And my dog was whining for snacks and I didn't have any. so i went to the freezer and took out one of the deer meat packs out and I noticed the date on the white butchers paper read 10/20/06 So my girlfriend said we are not going to eat meat from 1996 so I shaved off a sliver of meat and started to give it to my dog.

At first she just looked at me like I was trying to give her plutonium or something strange so i tossed the sliver of meat in the trash. about 60 seconds later she is circling the trash can so i take the meat out and offer it to her. Then out of nowhere she turned into Cujo and swallowed my whole hand in her mouth and took the meat, along with a few fingers of mine. well it felt that way. Then she just gave me this look like move out of my way asshole let me go eat this meat in piece. I have never seen my dog act that way what could it be from?
was it a mistake giving my dog deer meat? :depressed

it's just your dog reverting back to her primal instinct of eating raw meat
she's used to those faggy processed dog bones you buy her

Thanks for the replies! :tu

The reason I was worried I remember a guy at work took his pet rat with him and he said the reason it doesn't bite people was because he never gives the rat meat.

I was wondering if this the case with dogs.

The reason the dog almost took your hand as well is because deer meat is normally more pungent, but because of its decayed state it closely resembles human meat. Because smell is one of the primary components of taste (especially for dogs), your pet essentially has a taste for human blood now. Don't let him stay in your room when you're sleeping again.
