:pop:I was thinking past the Twin tower Drob years 1997-2003 an I finally found the guy that made things almost perfect after Robinson. Rasho was good but Nazr Mohammed in 18 games with the spurs put up 6pts 6rbds 1blk in 18 minutes a game with the spurs in 2004-05 season. He wasn't a 7footer but he was a legit big man at 6-10 and plenty of bulk downlow. Nazr was a real Center and since he was big he took up space in the middle. He also blocked shots and got offensive rebounds and DUNKED the ball when he was around the rim. Sure, he didnt have much of a jumpshot and could be turnover prone when you feed the ball to him in the post, but when he did get his footing right ( Didn't travel i mean ) it was either a nice post move or a dunk. He also put up big rebounding games CONSISTENTLY when Duncan was out. He also got a big man's share of rebounds when he was in with Duncan. Oh how I hate the dallas Mavericks, if it wasn't for them beating us in 06' we would have bigmen that can play inside on our team instead of 6-9 Jumpshooting Forwards. I ask you the people who in your opinion was the best big man to replace Robinson? I'm using only starting Centers from the past spurs years.

I'm gonna try to make a poll. If it works great if not well then just read below and make your choice. Best starting Centers next to TIM

1 - Nesterovic
2 - Mohammed
3 - Oberto
4 - Bonner

Rasho....

Had a decent shot and he was great for defense... and didn't have butterfingers.

btw you failed on making a poll part

Tim Duncan..
My poll was going to say best center next to TIM, couldn't get it going tho. I had some problems. Thats why I posted it in the starting thread. Not Duncan but the guys who played next to him as centers.

Nazr had his moments. He also had moments when he got roofed by 6'3" guards, missed offensive assignments and defensive rotations, and generally fucked up everything.

Real center?

We have Matt fuckin' Bonner defending the house.

Rasho was good but too slow to be used against every opposing lineup. What we've really been missing more is the tall, mobile combo forward types. We can only hope Haislip is this kind of player.

I know Haislip has that ability, but you don't think Ian would be about a million times faster than Rasho?

If he weren't always on crutches he might be.

Sure, I just don't count Ian as a combo forward. I'm assuming he can guard perimeter PF types better than Rasho, certainly.

Rasho was certainly the best out of the 4. He knew his position and played accordingly, no stupid shit that makes you scream in front of the TV.

I was just asking about how Rasho's weakness could be one of Ian's strengths. Haislip certainly has the athletic ability to guard the Lamar Odoms and Rashard Lewis's but he seems to lack the interest.

I wouldn't worry about his interests. He's come back to the NBA to prove he can play in the league.

We should never have let Dave retire. Bad back, bum knees, rotten ankles...and he would have still been better than any of these others. Hell, bring him back next year...and he'd be better than anything we have at Center now.

...and I'm serious ;)

Tim Duncan, "The Greatest Power Forward of All Time," has been playing Center for years.

The guys we've been calling centers lately are really just crappy power forwards. Tim Duncan is our center.

Tim Duncan is more of a center than Hakeem Olajuwon.
