Fox News Channel ads taunting rival networks draws return fire; CNN's Sanchez: `you lie'
By LYNN ELBER , Associated Press
LOS ANGELES - Fox News Channel's competitors fired back Friday at the network over ads in three major newspapers claiming Fox alone covered last weekend's protest in Washington, D.C.
"How Did ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC and CNN Miss This Story?" was the headline on the full-page ads that ran Friday. The headline is superimposed over photos of the rally that drew tens of thousands of anti-tax demonstrators and Obama administration opponents.
Fox's taunt drew immediate reaction from the other networks, all of whom quickly offered up descriptions, transcripts of news reports and video proof of their rally coverage. Some denounced Fox for falsehoods.
CNN anchor Rick Sanchez put it even more bluntly in a heated, lengthy air-on retort that CNN, which competes directly with fellow cable channel Fox, showed repeatedly. Sanchez aired clips of CNN's coverage from last Saturday, including interviews with protesters and a wide shot of the massive rally that looked like one featured in the Fox ad — a shot Sanchez said was aired repeatedly by CNN.
"Let me address the Fox News Network now perhaps the most current way that I can, by quoting somebody who recently used a very pithy phrase, two words," Sanchez told viewers. "It's all I need: You lie."
Fox took out the ad in The Washington Post and in the Wall Street Journal and New York Post, two papers owned by Fox's parent company.
The network has taken a pugnacious approach before in its promotional efforts, but this latest move is unusually provocative even for Fox.
Fox defended its ads in an e-mailed statement from a marketing executive that called other networks on the carpet again for their coverage of the rally and events preceding it.
"Generally speaking, it's fair to say that from the tea party movement ... to Acorn ... to the march on 9/12, the networks either ignored the story, marginalized it or misrepresented the significance of it altogether," said Michael Tammero, vice president of marketing for Fox News.

It has a little to do with being able to speak English and Spanish. The only reason he bashed Fox News is because they bashed his network. If they can dish the heat, they can take it.
The only reason you're complaining about the situation is because you're a partisan sack of shit.

If the other networks didn't cover the 9/12 rallies, which it appears they somewhat did, just without the vigor and top to bottom coverage that Fox did, I wouldn't blame them as it was an event that was basically sponsored, promoted, and organized by Fox in the first place.

I keep wondering, what is the reading comprehension of a liberal?
The title for the ad is buried in thousands of other links. Information overload. Anyone have a link to the ad that's being complained about?
I believe this is another typical example of spinning the truth to where it is no longer recognizable. I doubt Fox claimed there was no coverage by others. I think it was the same as some quotes I could find:
"Generally speaking, it's fair to say that from the tea party movement ... to Acorn ... to the march on 9/12, the networks either ignored the story, marginalized it or misrepresented the significance of it altogether," said Michael Tammero, vice president of marketing for Fox News.
Everything I heard or read from other media outlets was marginalized or misrepresented. I don't see how anyone with an ounce of intelligence can deny that. I doubt I'm wrong. Can someone show me a report that is accurate and not marginalized?

Fox's add said the other organizations ignored or did not cover the events. They did and Fox got called on it. Funny how Fox hasn't responded to the criticsm although their lemmings ,such as yourself, are to blinded to even realize they were caught lying.
The Washington Post false ad that Fox News bought and presented for the Post's readers stated that they "covered all the news" and that "ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, and CNN" all missed the story of the Washington Tea Party last Saturday. But they didn't. They all covered it.

The question if that's all there is to the ad is what is the story? It doesn't say nobody else reported it. It says the "missed the story." That they did. They erroneously reported the story as much as they could.

So let's get this straight oh wise connoisseur of Webster's. You're saying that the phrase " How did ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC and CNN miss this story" (with a photo captured by CNN of all things) doesn't mean, they did not report on it?
Webster's definition of miss
transitive verb
1 : to fail to hit, reach, or contact <miss the target>
2 : to discover or feel the absence of
3 : to fail to obtain
4 : escape, avoid <just missed hitting the other car>
5 : to leave out : omit
6 : to fail to comprehend, sense, or experience <missed the point of the speech>
7 : to fail to perform or attend <had to miss school for a week>
I see your point. Obviously, it means that they perhaps could have "failed to", "avoided", "left out" the story. That is quite different from not reporting on it.
