USC's been hosed by the BCS more often than favored IMO.

Hell the Pac 10 in general! With Oregon in 2001 and California in 2004!

I've only been paying attention to college football for a few years so I'm not incredibly informed.

My favorite moment in USC history though is when BEFORE the Texas game, they were ranking the top college teams of all time and had the 2005 Trojans #2 all time ahead of the 1995 Huskers.

That was ridiculous over hyping by ESPN... they DID have one of the best offenses of all time though.

I think they were screwed by the BCS system last year though... even if their schedule/resume wasn't better than OU's that team was just too damn good to not get a shot at a title because of an unlucky September loss. One of the best D's of BCS era.

Playoff please.

Here's my view:

USC's one loss came against a team it had no business losing to.
Oklahoma's one loss came against what was another top 5 team that season.

I over simplify it a lot, but my view when arguing about which 1 loss team should make it should come down to the loss each one had.

Either way, IMO it should have been Texas vs. Florida last year.

sons USC tends to always be over hyped in the media, but in fairness to them ... they always back it up in the bowl games. I can't hate on them for that.

the only year that I think USC truly got hosed was the 03-04 season. It SHOULD have been LSU vs USC for the championship game ... not LSU vs Chokelahomo. Florida, LSU, and USC have been the best three teams in the country over the last 5 years or so overall. Those three teams always back it up in when it counts.

Well i guess trying to find a silver lining-at least the QB debate for the rest of the year will be over-barkley is clearly better than corp. I'm predicting more than 1 pac 10 loss this year for sure. Think USC will lose 3 or even 4. Have them losing @ Cal for sure, possibly @ ND, possibly @ Oregon (if they can clean it up more). Next year they will be back elite-this year will be growing pains mainly because of the QB situation. They're one dimensional right now

Barkley is better than Corp but I do think (not surprisingly) that ESPN overhyped Barkley quite a bit after last week. Barkley did complete less than 50% of his passes against Ohio State, three for 0 TDs and 1 INT, and the drive he "engineered" was carried in large part by Joe McKnight. Barkley did have a couple of big passes but he rode McKnight for that drive. I realize he's a true freshman and it was his first road game in college, but they gave him entirely way too much credit. That said, it is pretty obvious Corp can't handle himself nearly as well as of right now.

yep. and in typical USC fashion, we lost to an unranked Pac-10 team on the road, fuck.

i'll tell you this...never in my wildest dreams did i think the QBs at SC would hamstring the offense, like this, this year. its incredible. SC was up 10-0 half way through the 1st quarter, mainly due to running the football, then uw stacked the line and corp couldn't do anything right.

if this QB situation isn't fixed/improved...we'll lose 3 games this year.

tlongII
09-20-2009, 01:37 PM
USC will lose at least 3 games this year. The Pac-10 is just too strong for that not to happen. Texas doesn't have to worry about losing more than 1 game. The Big-12 is that weak.

Mustain must be concentrating on banging coeds and fucking off far away from his critics rather than concentrating on football. How the hell are those two guys playing in front of him? I understood Sanchez beating him out last year and all the Barkley hype this offseason. But seriously, eight wins at an SEC school can't be a fluke. Did he grown attached to In-N-Out Burger and Grey Goose now that all his critics are two hours ahead of him?

who the fuck knows. from what i read and heard, he was doing well in practice, but the coaches just didn't like his running of the offense.

if you'll remember, i wanted Mustain to start from the beginning...there is no way he is as bad as Corp and Barkley. unreal...

but don't worry

Oregon will give USC a 2nd loss

Cal is much better than UO this year. UO has shown some signs but they have a lot of questions including Q and D. Cal is the most complete-I think USC definnitely loses to Cal. UO should be a good game/not sure yet how that will go. And a loss at ND is definitely a possibility. In addition to those they could lose a random home game a la oregon st., zona, or Fucla. Of course if barkley can really show good improvement and develop quickly they will do much better than I predict above...but as of now that's how i feel

TFloss32
09-20-2009, 09:58 PM
Yeah, Bostonguy is awfully quiet after that one. USC's offense is just not there yet. I'm sure they'll improve but I see the Cal game getting ugly. I hope they lose one more so they won't be in the BCS title talk.
