Pennsylvania Pub Serves Nine Pound Burger!
No one has ever finished
this $23.95 whopper
Where's the beef? As you can see, it's at Denny's Beer Barrel Pub in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. Denny's is the home of the world's largest hamburger: a NINE POUND meat monster!
This humongous burger, listed on the pub's menu as Ye Olde 96er, sells for $23.95 and contains a full six pounds of meat plus three pounds of trimmings: two whole tomatoes, a half-head of lettuce, twelve slices of American cheese, a full cup of peppers, two whole onions, and "a river of mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard" according to pub owner Dennis Liegey.
Not that hungry? Denny's offers two- and three-pound burgers for those of us with slightly smaller appetites. Denny's Beer Barrel Pub is located at 1423 Dorey St., Clearfield, Pennsylvania. For more information, call (814) 765-7190 or visit their web site at www.dennysbeerbarrelpub.com .

I'd love to know the calorie counts on that thing!

Mmmmmm....when I'm handling that much meat, the last thing I'm thinking about is the calories.

Arteries...hardening...
Breath...short...
You'd have to chase it down with drain-o to clear the passage way to the heart.

12 slices of cheese?
I could do without the mustard and ketchup. I love onions, I'd be curious to know how they're sliced, rings, diced, etc. Doesn't matter...if I was hungry and had went the whole day without eating I could probably do it in a sitting. Better have a pitcher of tea next to it.

I saw a show on the Travel channel that listed all the places like that in the country where your food is free if you can finish it. I'd like to go on a gluttony tour some day and give all those food challenges a try.
I bet that Chinese kid that wins all the hot dog contests never has to pay for food.

Denny's (not to be confused with the national chain restaurants of the same name) offers prizes for customers who can completely consume one of their big burgers within a designated time period: a t-shirt, certificate, and 50% discount for anyone who finishes a Challenger within an hour; a t-shirt, certificate, and 100% discount for anyone who can polish off a Baby Boy in 90 minutes or less; and something special for anyone who manages the unthinkable and puts away a whole 96er in under three hours. (That "something special" has yet to be awarded, as no one has so far successfully accomplished the feat.)

No freaking way I could eat that in a day, much less a couple of hours.
It'd be gluttonously fun trying, though. :)

Haven't any of you guys heard of "Little Hips" that used to be on N. Main by SAC? That burger is exactly like the one they served there, the Hippo burger. I once ate 3/4 of one, and might have been able to finish it off if properly motivated. If anyone knows the place, is it still open? I had heard the owner was going to close it down a while back. Little Hips opened in 1966 I think. The great thing was the burder was not expensive and actually tasted good. Mmmmmm, I might have to go by there and see if they're still around.
