Did anyone notice that everything was backwards in that Office clip? I loved how calm Michael was at the end even though Stanley was beating the shit out of his car in the parking lot.
Jim is a douchebag mainly because he acts like he is better than everyone at the office. Seriously, if this was real life, he would probably be dead because Dwight would have stabbed with him a sword or thrown ninja stars at him.

I completely disagree. What about the episode where David (i.e., Michael's equivalent) is trying to find out who made and circulated around the office the photoshop of him taking a facial from one guy while sucking another one off? Or when he's trying to suck up to the black guy in the office by getting a black dog and naming him Nelson, after Nelson Mandela, because he says "great man, great dog"? Or when a female executive comes down to see if he has made any layoffs, he lies and says he has in the warehouse, takes her down to tour it, and they see everyon sitting on their asses watching two dogs shag each other. Then one guy in the warehouse tells the executive that she can be next when she complains about their laziness. What about how everyone gets gifts like dildos and giant inflatable cocks on their birthdays? Or when Tim and Dawn talk gay innuendos to Gareth (the suckup to the boss) about his army days and he doesn't understand it?
I think the original Office has way more laugh out loud moments. On BBC you can do shit that's not allowed on the puritanical American airwaves.

First of all, anybody who thinks Jim is not a douchebag has got to open their blinders.
There are two kinds of jerks in the world: obvious jerks and subtle jerks.
Obvious jerks are the kind of people who knock your lunch trays off your hands and cut in lines for no particular reason.
Subtle jerks (Jim) are the kind of people who appear to be nice and trustworthy but really on the inside they are dicks. When it looks like they are complementing somebody, they are really insulting them, even at times when the poor victim fails to see the insult. Rotten to the core.

Just because you were that poor victim in life doesn't make Jim a douchebag.

Michael Scott has no balls and no spine. He completely allows Jim to manipulate him and sure enough, power-hungry Jim has now seized 1/2 of the branch manager's duties which partially demotes Michael from manager to co-manager. Pretty sad for a guy who spent 15 years of his life working for that company and is now Jim's puppet.

I agree that Jim's kind of a douchebag. All the characters on the American show are pricks except for Pam. That's one of the reasons I like the original version better. The British character Jim is based on (Tim) is a truly nice guy. Even Gareth (the character Dwight is based on) isn't an asshole, but just someone who says things without thinking.

I don't know; some of the stuff Jim pulls on Dwight is pretty low (like the fake FBI meetings). I hope they bring Jan back in the mix. I loved the episode when Michael threw the baby shower for her kid that he kept calling Ass Turd (instead of Astrid). :lol

No, I saw it and felt it made the episode cheesy. It's only a matter of time before every single wedding tries to do this. It might be one of those things that every sitcom does, like the whole taking two dates to the same restaurant.

I thought it was funny they anticipated Michael was going to pull that and ruin the wedding, and decided to do the actual marriage on the Maid of the Mist (great trip BTW... I went on it 10 years ago when I was up in New York to see Nolan Ryan get inducted into the HOF).

Yes the dance thing is cheesy, which is why it made perfect sense.
The only flaw was that it was actually some what timely for Michael, who is usually at least 2 to 3 years late on any fad or joke. But it too fitting for him to think a viral youtube clip was a great idea for a surprise at the wedding.

Yeah, that's right I forgot about the strike. Man, and season 4 could have been better with more time, but there was only 14 episodes.
But season 6 definitely looks like it could be close to seasons 2 and 3, the only problem is I don't see it as nothing can compare with the Jim, Pam, Roy, and Karen drama. :downspin:

Holly's funny, but Jan is a way more interesting character and I hope she and Michael get back together. Jan destroying Michael's plasma screen while everyone was having dinner there was hilarious. They gotta be able to work in an episode where Michael sends everyone one of their numerous sextapes.

Yeah, Michael needs to have his life in complete chaos, and Jan brings that out perfectly when they're together. I already think they've painted themselves in a corner with Jim and Pam and their storybook romance. The British Office handled it way better, having Tim and Dawn (the characters Jim and Pam are based on) finally hook up at the very end of the final episode.

Didn't it used to be on Nick at Nite? I think it was a long time ago though. Either way I used to love that show.
I just torrented seasons 1 and 2, and the quality isn't bad. I really want to watch the show again, and since I saw most of it on reruns, and didn't really get to see it as the seasons went on, I don't really remember what happens. But it is a great show.
And I used to think Winnie was hot.

The British Office handled it way better, having Tim and Dawn (the characters Jim and Pam are based on) finally hook up at the very end of the final episode.
Yeah but they only had to do it in 12 episodes and a miniseries... If they had tried to go six seasons on the British Office, they'd have had to get Tim and Dawn together by season 3, then probably have them break up at some point, and get back together again, etc. Keeps people interested... It's the Ross and Rachel pattern.
I hope they don't do something cheap like have Jim and Pam split up but it wouldn't surprise me.
And as much as I like Amy Ryan's other work in things like The Wire and Gone Baby Gone, I kind of thought she was awkward in The Office... Just doesn't seem like she was right for the part. Could just be me though. I agree Jan needs to come back into the picture.

Jan's character got old really fast. The writers did an "Eric Matthews" to her character. Jan was sane and not a psych bitch in the first two seasons then once she and Michael started to heat up, she went bat shit crazy. Her character changed completely.

I don't think they completely turned her character around. Jan wasn't around nearly as much in the first two seasons. And when she was, she was his boss and not his lover, although she did show signs of unstableness, like when they made out outside the Chili's.
She seemed to get crazier but it was only because she was involved in Michael's personal life in seasons 3, 4 and 5, and was in more episodes because of that.
Jan and Michael were definitely funny and awkward, but I don't really want them to bring her back as much as I want them to bring Holly back and let conflict arise from Michael and Pam's mom.

What about when she was spending too much of Micheal's money so he wanted to run away on the train? That was great.

I didn't like it at all. It made the show way too angry, IMO. I guess it served the purpose of fleshing out Michael's character a bit, but I didn't find it funny.

I thought the costumes were funny, Michael greeting kids as the Dick in a Box sketch was priceless, because in true Michael style he is oblivious to the fact that it was a completely innapropriate costume for kids. And Andy as Michael Jackson was funny, too bad he didn't dance. Maybe his scrotum isn't completely healed yet. :lol

The show needs chaos to be funny; not the touchy feely happy crap that has defined this season so far. Hence, why I was arguing for Jan being reintroduced instead of having Michael and Holly hook back up. Now they're really fucking things up by having Andy and Erin get together. They really need to make him hook back up with Angela or something.

That's because US comedies don't know when or how to stop. BBC Office was 2 seasons, a Christmas Special, and done. No time for it to get old or stale.

I always think back to what Troy McClure said... who knows what crazy things they'll get into between now and the time the show becomes unprofitable?

This season hasn't been that good but I think it's because the show has focused way too much on Jim and Pam and their unrealistic perfect relationship. I think the show has also suffered from Dundler Mifflin being bought by Sabre. The only good thing of this episode was Dwight. He had some classic quotes especially the ones about him and Angela banging it out in their old spot.

That word, chaos; it reminds me of the time Dwight set the office on fire and Stanley had a heart attack. That was definitely one of the most amusing segments I've ever seen on the show.

Anything would have been a drastic improvement from last week's piece of shit. I'm scared that the series is near the end though. Supposedly they're trying like hell to bring Holly back to the show (can't remember where I read it), Jim and Pam already make me want to puke (which is destined to be 10x worse with the fucking kid), and then having Andy and Erin together all threaten to make it unwatchable. Having that cockblocker last night was funny though.

Todd Packer on the show last night may have saved this season! And earlier this week NBC renewed The Office's contract for a Season 7. Despite it being a weaker season, people are still watching and that's all what matters.
It's not like it was in Season 2 or Season 3, but it has its moments.
Most of those involve Dwight.

I liked it, and I really think the Andy-Erin thing is cute. I like it better than Jim-Pam, maybe because they aren't dragging it out for three fricken seasons.
The show is the highest-rated comedy on NBC, so of course it will continue to get renewed. But Steve Carrel's contract is up after next season and he has been fairly non-committal about re-signing so I would think that if it did ever get cancelled, it would be because of that. I can't see the show w/o Michael, although I am sure they would try to go on w/o him.
