Actually, besides Entourage, there's not a show on TV I could've predicted CC hating more.

It's about the misanthropic high-jinks of a Jewish millionaire set in the back drop of a morally depraved and culturally rich Southern California.

Which is great for people living in the urbane 21st century. CC? Not so much.

CosmicCowboy

Thunder Dan
11-16-2009, 03:09 PM
Guess I'm the only one in here that can't stand that show.

the acting takes some getting used to because it's all improv. Larry doesn't even tell the actors what the show is going to be about. For example, say he is doing a scene with Jeff. He will just say to Jeff "alright we are eating lunch and when the bill comes we will argue about how much we should tip" that's all he says. He does this for every scene and puts it all together. It's the most brilliant show on tv. It's amazing how he does it. The acting is hard to follow because they don't act, they don't have lines, and it's not written other than the general idea that Larry came up with. Larry is a genius, and you can see he is the reason Seinfeld is what it was, not Jerry.

balli
11-16-2009, 03:11 PM
It has nothing to do with sophistication. By your own admission, why would you want anything to do with that culture? Or find it appealing as a comical backdrop? All I'm saying is I agree with you, the glove does not fit.

It really was just genius.

What I thought was great about last night's episode was how natural and easy the Seinfeld story/acting fell into place. And the reaction shots to it within the Curb arc. Every onlooker's smile in the episode was real. And you got the feeling that if 'they' hypothetically wanted to bring Seinfeld back for another run, they could do it without breaking a sweat.

They ended the table read scene with Seinfeld telling Jason Alexander that it was, "right there." And that wasn't acting.

MiamiHeat
11-18-2009, 03:41 AM
yeah, Larry doesn't actually write dialogue for Curb your enthusiasm

it's all improv. he basically tells them "ok, in this scene, larry does x and then you argue with him over the pen"

and then they do their thing on the spot. it's genius

Great episode. One-armed man, kike, men with character, the car periscope and the skis-as-cue sticks. I'd say this was second or third so far with Palestinian Chicken of course being the tops so far.

Good antics, Larry. (http://www.nypost.com/p/pagesix/married_amy_enthused_larry_4LYzNqqaLJ2WAQK3MwzXrL)

Larry David has gone from home-wrecked to home-wrecker with his new girlfriend, Amy Landecker, who was married when they met.

The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator, whose ex-wife, Laurie, left him in 2007, has moved on with the lovely Landecker, 41, who was married when he wooed her on the set of the HBO show in August 2010. They met when they filmed the episode titled “The Bi-sexual” which aired on Aug. 21.

Landecker, who starred in “A Serious Man,” appeared on the episode as bisexual “Jane,” who was pursued by both Larry and his rival, Rosie O’Donnell.

Sources tell us there were “sparks on the set” between Larry and Landecker, who was wed for six years to journalist Jackson Lynch with whom she has a daughter. The couple filed for a divorce in March, but Landecker has been seen on Larry’s arm in New York and LA since February. The two are still in the midst of finalizing the divorce.

Larry recently opened up about his split with environmental activist Laurie after 14 years of marriage: “Well, she thought that it would be nice to have sex with someone she liked. She wanted to try that. And I said it’s not a good idea.” Laurie reportedly left Larry for Martha’s Vineyard contractor Bart Thorpe.

Landecker’s rep told us it is “unequivocally not true” that David was the cause of the break-up of Lynch and Landecker’s marriage.

But Lynch told us David and Landecker were in a relationship before he filed for a divorce. “This is obviously a sad set of circumstances for our family,” Lynch said. “As far we are concerned it’s a private family matter.”

He added, “If you want more details about their relationship you should reach out to Larry.”

Larry told us through his rep, “For what it’s worth, the only marriage I’ve ever broken up is my own.”

PM5K
09-12-2011, 05:17 PM
As utterly hilarious at that was I was expecting a bigger punchline or ending to the MJF story line.

Larry going to France for two or three months just to get out of seeing sick kids is funny, especially since he was in NY for the same reason, but I just felt like I heard a good joke that I laughed throughout, but didn't get a punchline.

Imagine for example a shot of MJF and his wife where MJF admits to fucking with Larry, or say a shot of him stomping around in his apartment in the middle of the night laughing, showing he was doing it on purpose. Maybe he's flipping double birds towards the floor, IE Larry's place, and saying "bald asshole".

Also maybe a hilarious third infraction involving MJF that got him kicked out, then at the end he and Leon have to go stay with some relatives of Leon's, maybe even the original Black family.
