I can't believe believe I witnessed that beatdown right in the Bell Center

We had a great 1st period and then we stopped playing.

I don't want to take anything away from the Caps, they played well and Varlamov was great, but we stopped doing the things that had made us successfull in Washington.

In a nutshell, we played like shit during the last 2 periods.

And Ovechkin blew kisses to the crowd when he scored; the guy next to me was pissed but I liked it :lol

How can you hate Ovechkin, he plays with so much passion

Hey, other than the fact you guys lost, how was the game? :D

Flyers looking good. :wakeup

Boudreau has made the right adjustments. I like putting Boyd Gordon into the lineup, and starting varly was the right move. Just gotta figure out how to get the power play going.

Sorry you had to be there to see it Lefty.

Unique atmosphere, electrifying; there is a reason Montreal is the mecca of hockey; amazing building

Yeah I`m sorry too :lol

Boudreau`s adjustments were good; the first 3 goals were scored by the grinders; in the playoffs, you need your 3rd and 4th to perform, and those guys delivered.

I just hope Hamrlik, Bergeron and Andrei "I score a hat-trick once in a while" Kostitsyn will wake the **** up.

But I said to Jean Beliveau, a Canadien all-time great :hat

It's possible to have a Pens-Caps Finals in the East. A lot of things would have to happen if there is even a chance of it happening. The Pens and Caps would have to win their first round series. The Flyers and Bruins would have to complete their first round upsets. The playoffs are different in hockey than they are in basketball. Hockey does the right thing and the highest seeded team always plays the lowest seeded team. If all of the teams in the East that have 3-1 leads in their series win and go the next round, The Caps would play the Flyers and the Pens would play the Bruins in the second round.

Caps had no energy, and were flat the whole game. they flat out did not deserve to win. I am not sure they even deserved to be as close as the final score showed. Boudreau will not allow them to come out that flat in game six.

I don't know if Halak was inspired by the kid who carried the torch before the game; he was wearing Ken Dryden's mask

If Halak keeps this up, Price is out

Heck, even if he screw up in game 7, Price is out anyway; Halak has become a national figure here; if Gauthier gets rid of him, " le peuple " will be going after him :lol

Stupid penalty leads to a Habs PP goal, followed by taking a penalty because he was outworked by Moen, followed by getting outmuscled by a midget, followed by trying for the big hit thus taking himself out of the play(goal).

All teams listed below won the President's trophy and the Cup.

86-87 Oilers
88-89 Flames
93-94 Rangers
98-99 Stars
00-01 Avalanche
01-02 Wings
07-08 Wings

Its hockey, not basketball. Upsets happen every single round, its almost expected.

The #1 seed in basketball will lose to the #8 once in a generation.

In hockey? It happens almost every 2 years. Shit, you should see the #2 vs #7 seeds records...its laughable. The #7 seed wins something like 40% of the time.

Upsets happen. The trophy is not a curse, its just hockey. Any team can beat any team in any game, unlike basketball.

Green took stupid penalties, and the Caps did not adjust for the Habs at all. Hats off to Montreal, they played well and the Caps didn't want it bad enough. Green is not a Norris worthy defenseman. He could be, if he pulls his head out of his ass.

btw...anyone know why they reviewed the goal that Montreal had waved off, but not the caps one early in the third? Not complaining about the call, jus wondering about the review policy.

Lefty...A team is only as good as their goalie and you have the best goalie right now. It's going to be a grinding series but I just think we play a better team game than the Caps did. We get more players involved and don't rely on a puck hog to lead our offense.

The biggest key for us is to get Fleury on track. The Habs don't shoot a lot, but they take smart shots. I have mad respect for what you guys did to the Caps. As a hockey fan, it was a joy to watch your team play.

Thanks for the kinds word

Pens have a great goalie too; FLeury can be inconsistent, but he is a clutch mofo, he makes key saves when it matters the most.

My coworker happens to know Fleury's girlfriend very well; she told her that he is very nervous about playing in Montreal (because has family there)

I love watching the Pens; Crosby is a talented superstar who also plays like a 4th liner; he grinds, battles for the puck, works hard on D.
Washington is just an offensive team; the Pens may have less snipers but they have a better balance: offense, D, goaltending, toughness, team play.
Actually, their players that scare me the most are guys like Talbot and Dupuis

Ummm.....those same Oilers lost game 7 in the Stanley Cup Finals. Funny what happens when a goalie has an unbelievable run, huh? They would have probably won the cup if he didn't kill his knee in the 1st game.

Same with Staal, although last update I read was that he could return but will be out for game 2 for sure.

I was pretty upset with our 5 on 5 play, but can't complain about the power play. If the Habs can control their penalties then this could be a long series. If we continue with 4+ power plays a game, well, it could be over quickly.

It sucks that both teams have lost key players

I wonder what its like for a San Jose fan to know it takes the opposing team to play an entire period of hockey on the PK to win by one goal?

San Jose realizes, I hope, that once the refs arent involved in this series, youre done right?

Youre winning on getting every favorable call one can get, from the refs (how many 5on3s?) and the Gods (Lidstrom's stick).

These things tend to balance. Have fun at the Joe!

Wings got screwed by the officiating in games 1 and 2, then lost a game they should've won in game 3. I don't think the Sharks are that much better than the Wings...they've just been very lucky, and the officiating has been one-sided for most of the 3 games.

Barring a collapse of epic proportions, the Boston Bruins are set to advance to their first conference finals since 1992. That season, the Bruins finished second in the old Adams Division and defeated Buffalo and Montreal before bowing out to the eventual Stanley Cup champs from Pittsburgh.

When you guys actually started to compete is when the game changed in the 3rd and we didn't have an answer. Dont try to reason with a Pens fan, theyre new to this.

like the Wings dont get mad love from the refs.......in recent years they have been allowed to maul, rape, and almost murder out on the ice and hardly get a penalty called on them.

Hey, I can admit the Pens get their fair share of calls.....but a Wings fan shouldnt be calling out the Pens.....when they get just as many, if not more...

But I understand also, that teams that are known to be more physical and more aggressive get away with more. So I see no reason to bitch and cry about it.

I wish Boston would hurry up and eliminate Philly......cause my only solace in the Pens being ousted is the Caps and Wings are out so far.....I just need the Flyers to join them.

They have a momentum going on
But teams like Philly, Boston and the West champion (if we win the East, nothing is done yet) scare me most than Washington and Pittsburgh

They will wait for us, gone is the underdog status

You must have me mistaken with someone who blames the refs for anything. San Jose whopped the Wings asses fair and square.

Refs had the most effect on Game 3, but really, thats it. Wings showed up to play in Game 4.

Beyond that, San Jose ate their lunch all over the ice.

Moreover, the Pens beat the Wings fair and square last year, too. Did the refs have something to do with it? No, penalties had something to do with it.

My only problem when it comes to conspiracy is scheduling and travel.

Of all the series to be delayed in the second round, why fucking Philly/Boston? Why not San Jose/Detroit? WTf is so hard about traveling across one state instead of 3 timezones every-other day?

The Leastern conference is a fucking joke.

Another problem...last year the Wings played the Hawks in the WCFs. They killed the Hawks the first 4 games (Chicago won a game, but you get the point). Going into Game 5, the Wings were informed by the league that if they win Game 5 (and thus the series), the Cup Finals would start 2 days after Game 5.

If they lost Game 5, no matter how many games the series went, the Cup Finals wouldnt start until 8 days fucking later.

Mind you, this is the series Datsyuk got injured in Game 3, Hossa missed a game and Lidstrom had to have surgery on one of his testicles from getting speared (he missed Game 1 and 2, I think?).

The league fucked the Wings in that situation. They were banged up, injured and completely unhealthy heading into the Finals. If they had got the 8 fucking days between the WCFs and the SCFs, the Pens would be ringless, I guarantee.

As it were, the Wings won Game 5 and were playing Pitt two days later.
