Triva Qs
Phillip Rivers had 436 yards in the loss:

1. When was the last time a coach had his QB throw for 436 or more yards and lose?
2. Throw for 436+ yards and get the offense get 26 points or less?
3. What is the historic W-L record of teams in games when their QB threw for 436+?

I'm curious to see if Norvball Turner has set another milestone.

I don't know.
If anyone knows, please do share.

If Manning throws for over 500, expect his team to put up HUGE POINTS

Since you asked:

1. The last time a QB threw for 436 yards or more and lost was September 28, 2008, when Kurt Warner threw for 472 yards as Arizona lost at the New York Jets, 56-35 (there was only 1 436+ yard game between Warner's loss and Rivers' -- Cutler threw for 447 in a Denver win at Cleveland on 11/6/08)

2. The last time a QB threw for 436 yards or more and his team scored 26 points or fewer was September 23, 2007, when Jon Kitna threw for 446 yards as Detroit lost at Philadelphia, 56-21 (there were only 5 436+ yard games between Rivers' 26 point loss and Kitna's 21 point loss).

3. Since 1960, quarterbacks have thrown for 436 yards or more on 77 different occasions and their teams are 40-35-2 in those games.

For what it's worth, by my count here are the records by yardage:

500+ yards: 3-5
476-499: 4-6
451-475: 12-9-2
436-450: 21-15

(the search is for games in which a QB threw for 435 yards, so I took out the last 2 games in calculating the all-time record)

Usually when a QB throws for so many yards is 'cause they're playing catch up and don't have time to run the ball. That's why I'm not surprise when I see a QB acumulate so many yards in a losing effort.
