I'm turning 26 in a couple weeks and for the past 5 or so years I've wondered when my aunts, uncles, and grandparents will stop sending me money for my birthday. Anyone know when the cutoff age is? I'm not complaining, as I don't mind getting $50 each year from the aunt I've seen 5 times in my lifetime. But each year I get older, and more established in my career after college, it feels weird taking money from these people

I'm thinking maybe after I get married it stops, anyone know?

My mom still puts money in the card even after I've told her multiple times not to do it.

She even does it for my other siblings, including my brother who just turned 50.

Damn, I'm going on 24 and I haven't gotten money in years. My family is cheapskating me. I always figured that died off after like graduation or something.

I say you let it ride as long as possible and take that ish to the bank!

I mean like getting older and not living on my parent couch anymore wanting to borrow money. Didn't mean to sound pompous even though it didn't

you must be white

very.

She has a good heart. You will understand why she does it when you are her age with children.

We only live once, take advantage of the time you got.

I think it stops when your Mom and Dad die, or they get Alzheimer's and don't remember who the hell you are.:depressed

Usually about that time you'll have kids of your own that you don't know what to get them, so you give them cash, until you die or get Alzheimers.:toast

I only get money from the parents if they have no idea what to get me... otherwise money from the extended family stopped about college for me.

I've gotten a $100 bill in every birthday card and xmas card ever since I left home (20+ years). It'll be terrible when that ends because that means my parents will be gone :(

Well maybe if you kissed your parent's ass a little more, and quit selling drugs out of their house, and stealing shit they might be nicer to you. Ya think???

For us, it never stops, but when you reach a certain age you start giving them money/gifts for their birthdays and it basically evens out. But it's still fun to give and receive.

Wait till they start getting really old and start doing estate planning. That's when it really gets interesting.

I didn't think I got money as a little kid. Maybe once, from a visiting relative from Israel whom I never saw again. When I was a teenager I started getting a little bit of money. And as I grow older, I seem to get more and more, but only from my grandparents, God bless them. I t would have bothered me. However, I am currently unemployed, and I don't mind a little extra cash on my birthday.

Money for your birthday? Come again?

My birthday is on Christmas and I get one card for both.

If it bothers you that much donate it to the people that don't get money on their birthdays!

My dad gave me money every Christmas until he died, no matter how many times I told him that he did not need to do it.

my mommy stills gives money to me, and my sister, and we are both in late 40s.

She will do it until she's gone, no matter what we say...

:greedy

but like someone already said, when it stops, that will mean my mom is gone... :(

I ALWAYS get money from my grandparents for my birthday. It's gotten less & less over the years. Due to the fact that they don't have much money & are on very fixed income. I'll be 33 in Feb & I guarrantee I'll get $10 in a card from them. I tell them that they don't need to, but I am very greatful for that $10. They even send my wife $10 for her bday. She just got hers on 9/8.They'll send $5 to my daughter for her 3rd bday next month. I love my grandparents.
