View Full Version : Help! Weird growth on my face.

katyon6th

I have this growth on my face which appears to be a pimple but it's not. I've had it on my face for almost two weeks now and it won't go away. Anybody know what it could be? Should I see a dermatologist? Please don't make fun of my misfortune. I've suffered enough with this thing on my face. :(

It doesn't itch and there's no pain. It's just a bump on my face that looks awful. Hmm. Typically boils and cysts hurt to the touch, no?

No.

It could be a number of things and most likely is just a clogged pore/follicle.

See a derm.

I was just kidding about the liver spots. I don't have them either. I wasn't kidding about the other thing...I actually have one just like it on my right cheek about an inch below yours. It just showed up in my 20's and I still have it. I have had a couple dermatologist checkups (I'm in the sun a lot and really don't want melanoma) and they didn't see anything wrong with it from a health standoint...and besides...that stuff on guys is just "character"...unlike women where it's really creepy..LOL just kidding.

A dermatologist can get rid of that if you want him to. It's probably a cyst or keratosis. Neither is serious and can be removed via liquid nitrogen. I've had both.

Is it hard? Spongey? Is it part of the skin or does it move independently under it?

I've had a small cyst-like thing under my lip for like a year now. They said it was just an infected hair follicle that solidified or something.

Did you have a pimple in the general area before the growth formed? Most likely a doc is gonna put you on anti biotics (which won't do shit) and tell you to wait till the prescription is out... once it's out he'll say to come back if nothing happens and he might lance it.

Oh, man. And here I am complaining about an infected pimple. Boo!

Anytime something just "pops up" on your skin it should be cause for concern. These things can become very dangerous. Most people don't know that these can become a dangerous cancer.

I have had 3 removed through surgery and numerous others burnt off with that liquid nitrogen they use. Of course I have spent many years out in the hot sun with no protection, and now it's catching up with me. I have to see my dermatologist every 6 months. Right now they are having me "chemical peel" my arms, to get rid of some of the stuff.

Kamala

Go to a doctor and he/she will let you know really quickly. When in doubt that's the best bet.

I have had several pre-cancerous moles removed. I'm prone to getting them.
