Ime Udoka to Sign With Portland, Joey Graham With Denver

Udoka's agent, Mark Bartelstein, confirmed Friday his client will sign with the Trail Blazers. It will be a one-year minimum contract worth $959,111 and likely partially guaranteed.

"We talked a lot with Denver,'' Bartelstein said about Udoka, who played last season with San Antonio. "But it's a good fit (for Udoka). They really let us know they wanted him.'' Udoka, who previously played for the Trail Blazers in 2006-07, was born and raised in Portland, and played collegiately at Portland State.

Meanwhile, the Nuggets will sign Graham, who averaged 7.7 points last season with Toronto, to a one-year non-guaranteed contract worth $884,881. Sources confirmed the deal and Nuggets guard J.R. Smith said he has heard Graham will sign.

The Nuggets had really wanted to sign free-agent guard Flip Murray, and offered him the minimum of $1.1 million. But Charlotte topped that Thursday with a one-year offer of the $1.99 million biannual exception, and Murray went to the Hornets.

The Nuggets have been looking for a wing player to replace Linas Kleiza, who bolted as a free agent in August. But the thinking now is Graham and James White, who also has a non-guaranteed contract, can fight it out in training camp for a possible roster spot.

No way he stays or plays. Wayyy too many guards and wings ahead of him.

Good luck to him though, great guy.

2 years ago, most of us really liked the Udoka signing. Spurs also tried to get Mason that summer and we were saying WTF? .

2 years later, Mason is Spurs' starting SG and is paid $3.8M. Udoka is fighting to be Blazers' 15th player with a non-guaranteed minimum contract. :downspin:

He's a tough player, and he's a very good passer..at times a good rebounder..he doesn't do anything else well though..he declined into an average defender last season, doesn't have a consistent shot, doesn't finish well(other than that great surprising dunk last year)..

I'm going to miss seeing him attacking the rim in slow motion. Good luck Ime thanx for the help in 08 against NO. Wouldn't have gotten to the WCF without you.

I'm surprised he didn't go to Denver instead. He'd have a better shot at minutes there at least.

Showed flashes of excellent play.

Here's hoping a renewed start with a good coaching staff will help him.

Good for Ime. I like the guy. It's not his fault he can't play basketball.

I was hoping he'd pan out and be a good replacement for Bruce Bowen. But, it didn't happen. The Spurs won't miss him but I wish him well in Portland.

Really, I've never gotten that. How hard is it to put 2 hands on the ball and throw chest passes from the wing? How does that make guys 'good passers?'

Yeah that confused me as well, I wasn't sure if he went to Charlotte or New Orleans, apparently it was Charlotte..

He did a very good job running the point at times, and was able to make good plays for other guys and find the open man. Also, given his relative lack of strengths, his success passing the ball becomes that much more prominent.
